Air Intake Discussion.

What are your thoughts from a performance gain on open dual cone intakes such as BMS vs drop in filters using the stock air box?

The stock airbox system obtains air directly from the outside environment filtering out any possible warm air around the engine compartment; meanwhile, the dual cone intakes directly grab the air available near inside the engine compartment.

Would running dual cone open intakes decrease performance since the hot air around the intake box is not as dense?

I couldn't find any threats actually having comparison dynos between stock, dual cone, and drop in filters.

By the way, I'm running BM3 Stage 2 AGG.

Just remove the micro filter(maybe other name it's not on top of my head) change to bmc filter is good enough. Spend your money on other will give more gain.

If car is FBO, there will be some gains on the dyno

Its a cool mod that sounds good, i would not consider it a power mod since power increase is not noticeable and you get more for your money by going with other options

Injen

Open element air filter + Heatshield

Smooth idle and sounds really good. Powerwise, can't tell really since intakes don't add a lot of power anyway..

Only issue was the vacuum line being a very tight fit at first

What about the hot air being sucked right from the engine compartment? Any thoughts on that?

There's always the RK Tunes intake that takes air directly from the front of the car.

1. Heat shied surrounds both filters with rubber seals on the heat shield top that make a closed system

2. Both filters are fed cold air from the OEM air ducts that run directly to the filters

So they are pretty sealed from hot air

Any intake advertised "gains" can be contributed to just higher flowing filters and a lighter wallet. Purely cosmetic at best.

Stainless filters are a terrible idea in automotive applications.

Since this car has an intercooler you won't tend to lose any power by sucking in hot air since they will typically flow more air and your intercooler will combat the IAT's.

Anyone buying an intake should realize the performance benefits are minimal on basic FBO cars. It's more for sound and looks until you make enough power that the stock intakes are a restriction. My .02

I'd still get an intake on this car just one purely for sound and looks with a good overall design for the coolest air.

In your opinion, which intake(s) would that be?
