Ordered and on a Boat...Goodbye 640
I had a 2011 M3 convertible and loved it. I thought seriously about buying it after the lease was up, but opted for a 2014 M-Sport 640 convertible. I had some repeated problems with the 640, and I also missed my M3; I made a deal with BMW to get out of my 640 lease, and I was able to snag an allocation for an M4 vert from my dealer about to go into production, ordered it, and it is on a boat arriving in about a week.
I considered several color combinations; I love AW, MG, and SS, and I was also considering Moonstone, but I was not able to see one in person; and I could not do an Individual order due to the quick timing of my deal with BMW and grabbing a production number my dealer had available for a quick turnaround. My 640 was Sapphire/ Black; the Sapphire is ok, but I think I am partial to lighter colors which show the lines a little better, and I definitely prefer lighter interiors. I was trying to be practical with a black interior since it is a convertible, but I've decided to just get what I like, and not be so practical. I am getting a Silverstone exterior with full leather SS interior. Generally, I like a contrast between the exterior and interior, but I did not want a black interior, and while I was thinking about SO, it just wasn't for me; and with the black two-tone elements in the SS interior, I think it will look great. Here is the build: Silverstone, SS Full Leather M Double-clutch Transmission with Drivelogic Adaptive M Suspension 19" Black Light-Alloy Wheel Double-SpokeStyle 437 M with Mixed Perf. Tires Carbon Fiber black trim Parking Assistant Harman Kardon surround sound system Shadowline exterior trim Driver Assistance Plus Active Driving Assistant Active Blind Spot Detection Side and Top View Cameras Speed Limit Info Executive Package Rear view camera Heated Steering Wheel Retractable headlight washers Satellite radio with 1 year subscription Comfort Access keyless entry Neck Warmer Park Distance Control Head-up Display Lighting Package Adaptive Full LED Lights Automatic high beams There were a few options I was going back and forth on, and then I kind of said WTF, just do it; they do not seem "necessary" to me; but maybe they'll be cool. These options include: Driver Assistance Plus (might be cool if it saves me from a driving error), Adaptive Full LEDs (overpriced, but looks a little better than the xenon, and might be brighter), and Parking Assistant (completely ridiculous, but inexpensive and may be a cool novelty). Of course, I am tracking the ship obsessively. I expect to have the car in the first week of June. I can't wait. I really loved my e93 (even with it's relatively weak low end torque), and I loved that Dual Clutch Transmission. I can't wait to experience the additional torque and improved performance, interior, and features of the M4. |

Thanks guys. Should have the car next week.
Though i've loved my many ED's, the waiting is not as difficult; and it is nice to know I'm Priority 1, so the car should be on a truck to my dealer pretty close to when the ship docks. (But the waiting still sucks!). |
