Hey guys, so I'm contemplating trading my early '16 in on either a '17 ZCP or something else (ATS-V maybe?). That being said, I was hoping you guys could give me a roughy idea of what I could expect for my car:

'16 M3: YMB, MT , Adaptive, black 19s, CF roof, 4K miles

Thanks for your help

Probably about $10k less than you paid for it.

All of the online sites are nice, but few dealers actually acknowledge them. They value trades based on auction sales. To avoid the inevitable disappointment just go see a dealer and ask what they'll offer. If you're not interested in selling it yourself you'll probably do better with someone like Carmax than you would trading it.

Yea at least 10k less than what you paid. If not $15k. Car loses a ton of value the moment you drive off the lot.

I recommend taking it down to your local CarMax and let them give you a figure.... Will be a good real world market assessment based on the condition of the car, etc.

Cheers,

Your car has almost no options and that's the best configuration to trade in after a short-term ownership, since options add very little to resale values. M3 is holding values exceptionally well - I sold my 2015 last month for 13k less than when I bought new, after driving for 20 months and 19,xxx miles.

I suspect you can still get around 60k (maybe a bit less) from trade-in. Given your configuration, that's probably only a few thousands less than what you purchased for.

Yep Carmax is probably your best bet. I was offered 61k for mine a few days ago. Similar configuration with a few more miles.

If you're buying another car there may be a tax incentive for trading it in ($5-6k) and the dealer may give you a bit more for your trade if you're also buying a car from them.
