Propeller type noise on acceleration
Hi all, only 700 mi on my car and still getting used to what the car "sounds" like. Recently noticed a faint propeller-type noise coming from underneath the car on normal/hard acceleration - the only reason I heard it is because I was driving with the windows down near a center divide and the sound was able to reflect off the wall (I otherwise don't know if I would hear it). It sounds like a gentle duh-duh-duh (sorry dunno how else to explain it). Checked tires/wheels to make sure nothing was wedged in there, but it sounds more "exhaust" in origin. Much less pronounced when the throttle is in Sport/+, but I wonder if that's just because the louder exhaust sound drowns everything else out.
Did a search and couldn't find anything similar. But it sounds like a lot of odd noises and such seem to clear up after some more mileage? Thoughts? |

But check with you dealer to be sure..

Would you considering it to be a "farting" like noise? Does it happen when you lift off the throttle or when you are on the throttle. Because if it happens when you lift, that sound is totally normal.

If it's the same noise you are talking about i'll hear it too when in Econ mode and go WOT. I think it's just the exhaust opening up. Sounds like a low rpm fart cannon kinda. I only hear it in Econ mode.

I think I know what you mean, I get it even in sport+ but only really in 7th gear at crushing speeds.
I actually find the car seems like it's labouring in 7th so I usually cruise along in 6th.

My wife has the same thing in her 2017 X5, in comfort, you don't hear it, in Sports or Sports+, only under light acceleration you hear this kind of propeller noise.......but if you accelerate harder it's gone
Took it to the dealership when the car was due for service and they claimed they couldn't hear anything *rolls eyes* so anyway we couldn't be bothered to take the car back again and have me be with them to show them the noise. We figured the car has a 5 year warranty so let them deal with it if it breaks down.
