M3 Comp Vs Non Comp
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I’ve been doing a lot of research lately into the F80 for my next car. I’ve recently got a new job so my budget has increased to be able to afford an M3 finally! Can anyone give me proper real world answers as to if I should get a comp or a non comp and why? I don’t just want the standard stuff like “get a comp it’s better” without reasoning behind it? I’m personally not that interested in the gunshot exhaust pops the comp provides and my bigger worry is the 20” wheels will be very stiff albeit that the car won’t be a daily driver… If all goes to plan I’m test driving a comp on Saturday to give myself an idea, but just wondering if people can offer their own personal insight. Cheers |

I haven't noticed that much difference in the exahust on my 2018 M4 vert comp vs my 2016 M4 vert non-comp. My 2018 PO downgraded the 20" wheels to the 19"s, while I was a little disappointed less likely the wife will curb them and 20s are such a pain to clean. So there are comps out there with 19s. Besides increased HP, exhaust, and diff software, everything else is an orderable option.

I have a 2017 Comp, 6-speed with the 20" wheels. No issues daily driving (but largely depends on your main driving area and roads).
What's the cost difference between a used Comp and non-Comp at this time?

Speed is the same.
Biggest difference if we're being real is the non comp is more dangerous and likes to step out due to a spikey torque curve. It feels mustang like. The comp is much more well balanced and has small tweaks that make it safer and more efficient around a track. I love my non comp, shit tries to Kill me everyday. Some big name reviewers say the comp handles way better. Idk where they pulled that shit out from but anyone that has driven both knows it's BS. |

comp gets better shocks. thats about it really
you can change the engine tune on base model to a comp/cs or faster one for $600. you can change the steering/diff settings on the base model to a comp/CS as well i drove a comp and didn't feel much difference to my base model with CS tune. but like previous generations the comp will probably hold value better, even if there isn't much difference in hardware.

Get the comp. It looks better, has a little bit more power, and better handling, plus you get to say you have the ZCP package later on.. get a comp, it's better

I will disagree with stealthm4f8x a bit on the last part, I have driven both for 6 years and will say the that the Comp does handle better. Corners I can take at speeds in my 18' Comp would have put my 16' non-comp into the wall. My 2018 M3 Comp is a better overall car as other have mentioned, the seats, the updates they did to suspension, etc., and is just overall a much more composed car and daily driver. Bottom line if you want something you can whip around and the rear end squirrely as hell, go for a non comp, if you want something more composed with a lot of the kinks worked out, get the comp! Honestly can't go wrong either way.

If you’re gonna mod then get the standard car since you can get aftermarket tune and suspension better than Comp. If you’re staying mostly stock then get the Comp.

I need adjustable lumbar support for my back, so it was a no brainer for the Non-Comp for me. Sat in both and the adjustable lumbar support is needed for me.

I knew I wanted a 6spd, but I wanted to make sure so I test drove both versions, with both transmissions and there is a difference. The DCT to me was too jerky in the comp, and 6spd non-comp felt slower than the 6spd comp.
Test drive both back to back, and then see which one you like more. Once I knew I wanted the 6spd comp, finding the exact car I wanted took me 10 months.

My point is more that reviewers saying "the m3 is finally back!" After the comp came out in 2016 claiming the 2015 was a very subpar car is lunacy. |

Pros-
Seatbelts are pimp, as bandwgn has stated. Awesome if leaving stock, as alex2634 has said. Cons- And by far the biggest issue... And the main reason neither of my F80's are\were comp... The blank spots in the front seats... It starts with harmless fun. "oh nice shirt.", "haha, my wife has the same problem." But it quickly turns into merciless taunting with 3 and 5 year olds sticking things into the voids, penetrating your defenseless fat bubbles... Destroying you as a man. In the end, you're left wondering if murder suicide is the only way out. Is that really what you want when you purchase zcp? No, good Sir... Not I. I mean, being a dude with prior back surgery, the non-zcp seats are nice as well.

Stay stock & care about resale - ZCP
Mod - Non-ZCP I've had a civic M4 and now a M3CS. The CS is awesome but if I was going to build a car from the ground up (for say, the track), I'd absolutely go with a civic F80. If I wanted to just enjoy the car stock, I'd go ZCP (and code in CS damping but that's another discussion.) What's really important is that you find a car running the firmware that you want. Later model year firmware really smoothed out the driving experience across the range regardless of ZCP or not. If you want the wild '15s with the old firmware, those can be found as well.

What's the cost difference between a used Comp and non-Comp at this time?[/QUOTE]
A comp seems to be anywhere from 3-5k more depending on colour and mileage. There isn’t much in it which is why I thought I’d ask which is better. It won’t be for a few months yet, but I’m just trying to get ahead of myself so I know what I’m looking for closer to the time. |

So comp doesn’t have lumbar support? I also suffer with back issues so that could be a big factor to be fair
