Guess the M4 CS Sport Auto Supertest ‘Ring time - Update 7:42

So the lap is already driven, and the mag comes out 13 oktober, so we’ll know the time offically.

Remember things like outside temp will have a big impact on laptimes. M4 GTS was driven 30 degrees hot and did suffer from this. Time was 7.37 due to that. That’s 9 seconds slower than factory lap, and Sport Auto’s Christian should have been no more than 5-6 sec slower than factory if the temp was cool like when factory drove the lap.

Factory set them apart with 7 seconds (M4 GTS 7.28 vs M4 CS 7.35) but then each car was tested with the same optimal cool temp outside.

How will Sport Auto’s test turn out in terms of laptime? Lets all stay friends and give us your guess of the time.

Can't wait to read the article.

As you said, temperature is an important factor. Assuming good athmospheric conditions, I would say in the 7:35-7:40 bracket with a 7:38 guess.

You must be joking . That's only 5 seconds faster than a base 2015 M4. The MPSC2 alone are worth over 7 seconds.

The CS already posted a 1:11.0 Hockenheim in extremely hot conditions. SA/AMS said that in perfect conditions it would likely do a low 1:10 or even hit the 1:09s.

I need to stick with my logic then, If sweetspoot conditions 7.38-7.40. I can not see Christian do factory times, but at best he have done 2-3 sec slower than factory pace(Porsche GT4)

But If conditions like 30 degrees It will suffer and at worst hit 7.42-7.44min.

SA/AM&S either beat or matched the base M4 "factory" time since they both are quoted at 7:52.

I'm aware. Like the M4 GTS, I don't expect the times to be impressive in the least. I personally don't think it will be close to the 7:37 the M4 GTS put down. Either way, for the weight and hp the time won't be anything to boast about.

I don't see how this can go well for BMW. Either it gets very close to the M4 GTS continuing to show the GTS was a failure, or it's so slow (my guess is it will be very much so given the power to weight and cup tires) that it only proves furthermore how far behind BMW is especially when they keep touting the CS as a track ready car.

If M4 CS drive 12-14 degrees It can get close to M4 GTS. As M4 GTS drove 30 degrees on the sport auto ring lap, and suffer due to It. Sport auto also mention that very clear In the mag. Other than that driving track and datalogging we know It make quite a big Impact on laptimes, Hence factory never drive one car 30+ and compare that to 12 degrees.

But sport auto do just that, Hence pay attention to details.

If M4 CS drive same 30 degrees It will at be minimum 7 seconds diff, this difference Is real as BMW and their marketing guys did decide It should be a diff among these cars. In the same way Porsche set 991 GT3 and GT3 RS apart. Its bussines.

What ever happen In the after world...well take It with an open mind, Hence M4 CS can get closer to M4 GTS when sport auto drive, but If so Its more due to mother nature than anything else.

7.37 thats the same as 12-14 degrees optimal Nurburgring drivingconditions and we need a Christian G at his best If 7:37 should happen. He could pull It off but most likely not. But Its cooler temps this time on the year and Its very possible he drove optimal conditions alredy. But its not often he Is 2 sec off the factory pace.

That's when the mag is coming out. We need someone on the inside to give us the lap ahead of time.

At the time of the initial launch, BMW claimed a 7:38 time. That is the time that is stated in the press release.

However, when they had the press drives at the Nürburgring a few months later, a 7:35 time was advertised on TV monitors in the paddocks. Apparently they were since able to beat the original 7:38 time.

Ok now I feel a little better with my estimate of 7:40.
