Engineering Block on F80 Order

I called BMW genius for a status on my 18 f80 order and was told that there's an Engineering Block.

Does anyone know what this is?

Hmm, looks like they encountered an issue during production and halted any further progress until they have an engineering fix. For the ones that have already completed, depending on what the actual issue is, it could be addressed at the VPC or through a tech bulletin at the dealership before delivery or at some point down the road.

(Seriously though - there isn't much new that changed for 2018, so it'll be interesting to see what the issue winds up being.)

What status is (was) you F80 when they told you about the block?

150 I think. BMW genius told that the car went to prod on 6/27.

Mine was 151 yesterday and genius told me today it was on the assembly line and the automated line said I was at 152 (paint shop)

Mine went into production on June 28, and today was told by Genius that it will be done on July 14th.
The Eng block could be related to a specific feature or package..

I really wish we knew what this block was for as I am now super paranoid about my build which was completed before the block. But as someone else mentioned not much has changed and the touchscreen is already in use on the new 5 series so not really sure what it could be.

I called and checked on the status of my vehicles production, and it remains the same. My car has only three options (metallic paint, DCT and extended leather) based on that I would have to assume the delay is related to some other option configuration?

Bummer.

Had the same issue last year with the diff issue. Car sat at the port for 6 weeks waiting on a fix.

So I just called genius and he used the term "engineering data" vice block and stated there was a note listed for my car even though it is already at the port.

He stated that he had no info on what the "engineering data" might be, but stated it is not "uncommon" for early model year vehicles and could be related to emissions regulations/certifications. I guess that makes me feel slightly better so hopefully it is a quick update/fix.

My car finished today and genius told me there was note, just like bluecusion.
He said it was similar to a quality control review.

Wonder if the F83 is also affected as its the same production line as the F80 at Werk Regensburg? But, F83 has been in production since 3/17.

Called BMW Genius line this afternoon. My F80 is at 152 as of yesterday, scheduled for completion tomorrow, 7/7. No mention of an engineering hold...fingers crossed. I do have a fairly loaded M3 order, so if there is an issue, I'm probably impacted by it. Hopefully it's an Apple CarPlay issue or something.
