To be honest, the new F8X brakes are pretty much track ready with just a change of pads and fluid..not to mention they look good stock. One of the last things I would change, if I would do it at all.

I think people are getting a bit ahead of themselves on the sales potential of these, and I'm certain Brembo analyzed this from a longer term approach. For one, many opted for the standard steelies, and a color change alone will be reason enough for a fairly substantial amount of secondary buyers to utilize these as a terrific potential upgrade. Even the CCB's are unappealing to many due to color. In addition, they may be also be utilized for the weight savings, and I'd be interested to see if even a smaller option might be sought out, to allow for a smaller wheel/larder rubber to accommodate those of us blessed with weather patterns that piss-off even the likes of Santa.

If they made replacement pads and rotors for the ///M CCBs, they'd probably sell some down the line with out of warranty brakes.

Don't know why anyone would get this kit when they can finance CCBs with the car.

What size are the Brembo CCM-R disc option? 380mmx34mm and 380x28mm?

If i read correctly, i believe the OEM Carbon Ceramic Brakes (gold) are larger than the standard steel version (blue)?

They look much nicer than BMW's offerings for the M3/4.

Exactly.

There was a point of the Brembo BBK in the E9x M3 just because of the shitty sliding-piston OEM brakes; I got a Brembo BBK set just because of that. But with the OEM CCB brakes this "new" Brembo set for the F8x is kind of redundant.

Please read my post, not a couple before yours. And you do realize this car will be purchased by more than the just the person who originally ordered right? Even some dealer bought cars did not select the CCB option. So what do you do if you buy a car off the lot, but it didn't include the CCB's you so desperately desire?

For us with early cars that did not want to wait, these are an option.

Of course there will be a market for these BBK, that's not the question. The question is that finally BMW have an OEM alternative, so now it is up to the customer to order the car with them or not.

And to me, there is no question.

Yes, I hear ya. I must admit, due to the fact I did not get to drive the car before ordering, and with the standard brakes having received such positive reviews, I did not get the impression that the CCB's were a "must have" option for my purposes. I can certainly see how they would be a tremendous benefit if you are planning on tracking the car with any regularity.
For me, I figure I would give the standard option the benefit of the doubt. If for whatever reason down the road they are not sufficient, at least I know there is a terrific option available, in a color other than that horrendous puke/gold color.
Though, having re-read my response, I apologize for sounding like such an a$$, as it was not my intention (responding with phone app+starting/stopping in between calls).

No need to apologize... we are all giving our opinions about brakes.

Whats funny is most people who even get the CCB brakes won't ever track their cars. A few of us who came out of the PCar community that had PCCBs switched them out to the iron Red brakes as the replacement rotors were outrageously priced. The OEM iron brakes in the F8X are an excellent brake and like I said earlier, with just pads and fluid change you are pretty much track ready even with R compounds..

In regards to caliper color, that can easily be changed. A hell of a lot less than a BBK on a car that doesn't need it.
