Individual color and stitching
i have a question: i ordered an individual color M4 7 months ago and all of a sudden a week from delivery my sales representative informs me that my drive-out cost about is $10k more than what i had signed the buyers agreement for. he says the individual color forces the individual red stitching with black leather (code z1xx) in the system for an additional cost of $6100! yikes! i never asked or signed up for that - this is pushing this completely out of my budget. also in the invoice it's showing a charge of $2300 as additional customization which i have no clue what that is - code 940.
does anyone know if the individual color in the ordering system forces you to get individual stitching for an additional $6k beyond the $5k i am paying for the individual color? also, anyone know what is this 'additional customization' for $2300 is?? this is very frustrating - and knocking the car cost v close to $100k. |

If that is true, it should be on the build sheet they gave you. I have not heard that "individual paint color "forces" individual interior. I would ask them for written clarification.

Wow. I'm not an expert with Individual orders, but I have never heard of a similar situation. It's possible that things have changed with the 2018 updates, but I'd call BS. At least until I was presented with some objective data.

I don't know what is in their general conditions that you may also have signed for. But if nothing is presented, neither parties could change a contract without the other ones consent.
Most of the times however there is a line on the document stating something like: exact price may change on delivery. In that case: you are obliged to buy the vehicle with the new price. Good luck on this one

I wouldn't believe it. There are literally hundreds of people probably on this forum alone who have ordered individual colors without individual stitching.

Not true:
Your dealer will email ahead of time to get your build approved and then the wait begins. The average is a 4 month build depending allocation. I think your advisor screwed up your order and waits you to pay for it.

I can only speak from experience on my 2016 build but I can ascertain that I paid one premium for the exterior individual color in Ferrari red and another separate premium for stitching which was for full black leather with fire red stitching.
There was a $400 ZSP Canadian Dollars for Special Orders on the option sheet though... |

Ask for a copy of the "BMW Special Order Request" sheet. Your CA should have a paper copy of this (it's not done electronically) and it will show exactly what Individual requests were made and the pricing on it.

ideal would be to negotiate them down for this $6k charge. they told me to wait till the car arrives at the dealership and the actual sticker on the car will dictate the final price. apparently the invoice they are looking at right now could be off. so let's see...fingers crossed. will report back what happens.. anyone have any idea on the additional customization charge of $2430?? |

Your dealer is screwing you. They probably have another buyer ready to go for the car and need to get you out of this. It appears you have a car coming that you agreed to and ordered. That order is your car.

Yeah, this doesn't pass the smell test. Anything individual -- not what's available as a standard individual ext color -- requires your explicit approval/signature. You would've known all the charges before you actually placed the order since the component is fully custom, hence the extended lead time.
As others have mentioned, you need to check the build sheet...that's the gospel as to what was ordered -- along with the individual order sheet since those options aren't listed in detail on the build sheet. Good luck!

I got GB interior and there is no extra charge for the contrast stitching. That's included with the leather color. If I'd changed to a different stitching then that would have been extra, but it in NO WAY was required.

You are being lied to. Is there any doubt about that? Quote:
Your SA knows exactly what he ordered (clearly not what you asked him to), and how much it costs the dealership. And how much money he will make from you. Exactly 1 of the 2 things will happen: 1). You will fall in love with the car when you see it, get weak at the knees, and your SA will take advantage of you to the fullest. 2). You will flip the SA the middle finger and walk away. The only reason your SA wants you to delay the decision until car arrives is to get you emotionally involved with the car, and get you to think more with the little head instead of the big one. Otherwise, there are ZERO reasons for you not to make a decision on whether to proceed with option #1 or #2 now. a
