I can imagine this happens with valets as well, although I never valet my cars.
Well regardless how confused a DCT novice may be , when parking a car , ANY CAR , the parking brake should be applied. No matter what gear they leave it in or don't leave it in.
People who don't use their PARKING Brake should have their cars taken away as far as I am concerned. Lol

I notice you say "some cars", which is true. I'll add this for the purpose of clarity regarding our cars:

The parking brake on the F8X, as was on M3s before it, is handled by a secondary drum brake inside the rear disc hub. It is therefore perfectly safe to use the handbrake after a track session because the shoes of the handbrake are not "hot". And if for some reason the handbrake shoe would leave an imprint inside the drum, it would not matter anyhow. I've been using my handbrake after track sessions on my Ms over the last 17 years without ever having any issue. I actually use the handbrake in the event of a red flag where I need to stop hot on track, this to avoid holding the hot brakes (that would cause an imprint on the rotors).

This is now fixed in the F90 M5. They've finally added few features people were coding to get.

-To turn off the car press start/stop button once. Engine shuts off but electronics remain on just like every other BMW. The new change is that the moment you open the door, everything shuts off. Also, now you cannot press the stop button twice to turn everything off, second press doesn't do anything.

- Auto fold mirrors. Finally!

-Auto unlock. Finally!

This is why I said "some cars", I remembered your argument about your experience being able to set the parking brake. I almost mentioned you CanAutM3!

That's awesome. BMW finally fixed some of the annoying things.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo might as well revive an old thread. How does one go about coding the car to switch off and go in to park with one push of the ignition button? Can this be done through bimmercode???

Wait I don't get it. I just have to press it once and then when I leave and lock the car it shuts off the rest of the stuff that is on (sound system). Is that not fine for you?

This. Plus it's fun to have buttons to press. I like that the F80 DCT doesn't behave like other cars and gives me lots of variables to adjust. The DCT and manual are fun, anything automatic is just boring.

I like that I can open the windows and sunroof, press the button twice, and then turn on only the radio while waiting in line to pick up my kids at school.

I thought this was normal for modern cars. I'm 99% sure my parents' m550 and gle also have the sound system and climate stay on until you leave and lock the car.

For some reason when I turn the car off sometimes it says ignition still on and beeps annoyingly. It doesn’t happen every time and it drives me crazy. Would love to know why if anyone could help me with this 🙏

After a drive, leave your car in gear then turn it off, pull the handbrake. You said sometimes ignition still on could mean that your car was in N?

Nope it’s still in drive. Seems to not happen when it’s left in reverse though. I’ll pay attention to it more closely to see if it is in Neutral but don’t see how since I never put it in neutral only to rev engine.

this is funny, because I am always annoyed by cars that turn off the radio and don't let you operate the windows, after you shut it off and open a door

the bonus to the car staying on, is that if you missed rolling up a window, you can still do it after any of the doors has been opened

I just let it run and shut off on its own in my garage

if it is late at night, I push the button twice to kill the stereo

I don't lock my car in my garage... If I want to tinker with it, or clean it, or grab something out of it, I don't want to have to wander through my house and get the keys. Coding out the double press is extremely easy.

Yeah so as long as it’s in reverse when I turn off my car it doesn’t do the sound. When I’m in drive and I park it does sometimes. I’m going to test it out some more I think ebreak needs to come up before I turn off… haven’t had car in a few days getting wheels fixed but I’ll report back.
