I think you might mean the M Performance Steering Wheel PRO?

If he's referring to the one I've posted above (I'm not aware of any other Steering wheels that BMW will be releasing), then it has a flat bottom like the Audi R8 and some AMG models. It's also not entirely covered with Alcantara as you can see in the picture.

I personally love it more than the two existing ones, will probably get one if it was priced around the same price as the current M Performance steering wheel ~$1,000

Looks like its intended for the M2 with the matt/satin CF trim rather than the M3/M4 gloss CF trim?

The steering wheel shown on the M4 at SEMA had gloss CF accents, my guess is they will make a matte finish version for the M2.

The interviewer at SEMA said mid-2016 release so we should be getting close. Hopefully it's not too expensive (the current MP wheel can be had for $850)

Will this support the heated steering or we lose that? And what about the airbag?

If the past wheels are anything to go by, you lose the heating, but keep the airbag. Don't think they could sell them without airbag functionality.

I believe they will be making the same wheel for the M2 as well, but I'm not sure. Either way, this steering wheel was presented on an M4 at the 2015 SEMA auto show. So to answer your question, it will be offered for the M3/M4

Of course airbag will work assuming you reinstall it with the new Steering wheel

The two other steering wheels offered right now do not work with heated steering, however, keep in mind that they are completely alcantara and I think its partly the reason.

The new Steering Wheel Pro is half leather and half alcantara so maybe it will work with heated steering? I hope it does!

Sorry yes, I know that would be commonly expected but I was just making sure if one of the wheels was meant for pure track use.

The flattish bottom makes this a lot nicer looking but they still have ways to go to catch up with the steering on the RS5 and the merc. If this is priced under 1k I'll likely get it. For the install, since this is anon-electric one should be an easy DIY? correct? The DIY for the electric one looks very involved.

Thanks.

I believe the install will be similar to the current non-electronic version, which isn't very challenging as long as you are comfortable working with the airbag. Personally I've installed all the cosmetic stuff on my car, but I will probably have a professional do the steering wheel.

This wheel is the bees knees. I'm definitely going to get it when it becomes available.

Might try and turn the stock on into a coffee table or something.

love this wheel also. should be pretty easy to install if it's similar to the e92 which took me less than 30 min and reuses the airbag. heating would be nice. just need to unhook the battery so the airbag doesn't deploy. =)

It looks like June 2nd and 13th. This is for the M2 one with the matte carbon fiber.

I might have to add this to my order...Especially if it's only ~$617. Hopefully my CA can find a part number or something.

That was most of the inspiration for my wheel, but I couldn't wait! Myself and 2SNAILS had seen this wheel on a BMW Corporate M4 back in like November or December. It looks great in person, although the top leather seams were a bit rough.

I wish I could have done a true flat bottom (not adding heft to square off the circle) but, the color matched stripe really makes up for it.
