I'm installing ohlins and wil order the 763 rims or BBS FI-R, CS front lip and truck spoiler.
No need of the spartan interior look. These CS parts will cost me around 22500 euro's just to make it CS look-a-like.

Is active sound disabled in this M4CS??
I am very curious about that as it would indicate how much sound damping they have removed. |

Nice stance. Looks like an SUV from the back. So high off the ground. Well at least there is a manual transmission option...

Does anyone else feel this is the how the M4 should've come to begin with?
I appreciate the ability to ratchet up the performance on the M4, but four versions of the same car is reminiscent of the Honda Civic line up. Honda Civic Honda Civic Sport Honda Civic Si Honda Civic Type R Moving along. This has to be the most beautiful M4 I've seen in factory spec; I'm cognizant of the GTS being a sharper scalpel, by a ways, but the GTS has always come across (to me) as being ostentatious. Maybe it's all of the bright colors, I don't know - I just see myself pining for a CS over a GTS every day of the week. Well done BMW!

22 second faster on the Nordschleife over standard M4.
A lot of the time saved are from the Cups - maybe 10-12 sec. 3-4 sec. from the CF bits. Another 1-2 sec from mother nature and another 2-3 sec. from driver's mistakes. Plus another 3-4 sec from the "increased power and torque". All these are pretty conservative numbers. No doubt nice looking car, but not worth the price IMO. It is more for those who MUST have the latest toy in their garage. BMW is trying to convince those GTS owners that their money spent on their GTS is well worth for price comparing to the CS. Not trying to open a can of worms if it is worth it for others. |

Here is a quote from M4 CS press release.

To me the CS should be offered in both transmissions. Very disappointing. I do not care for the CS at all now.

Manual transmission or bust for me as well. This could have been a winner, not as track focused as GTS (love it but need rear seats and want manual). My last hope is the M2 CS now. Love the interior as I really like alcantara. Also digging the OLEDs which will not happen on M2 I suppose..... |

Cool car overall, but they missed the mark in a few key areas in my opinion. Didn't BMW learn anything from Porsche when they dropped the manual option? Regardless of whether you prefer the DCT or not, it's just silly that they aren't offer a manual option on a car like this. I also don't understand why they wouldn't revive the CSL name? And finally the price...$100k minimum. Getting a bit steep.

Would have been tempted with manual as well for everyday driving (I have the Gts for the track) but I will pass. Now, that new manual GT3 is getting more and more tempting but I cannot afford it. Also, it will not come out until September and good luck about even getting one at $149,000. |

Like many here, I find the price/performance a bit off compared to the P-car competition.
But.....I think there might be a rationale for this CS (that applies as well to the GTS in its price bracket). The equivalent 911 is objectively a faster and higher precision machine in each case. Is it more fun to drive though? I think it depends on what you want for a car. To get similar laptimes on the M4 in my opinion the car demands a much better driver. It oversteers more and it is more difficult to control. That challenge can be a good thing for some. The old Z4M had a similar rationale vs. the Cayman/Boxster S back then. It was a more demanding, rawer car to drive. The M4 is more of a muscle car that you need to wrestle with and dominate. The 911 is a higher precision machine IMO. Different strokes for different folks.

Your point may make sense in the old world where the highest performance car in the 3-series line was the M3 ... but now M is its own line, with the lowest performing M3-series model being the M3. segment and sell.
