Something about it seems tame compared to the F80.. perhaps the lack of huge fender flares, I don't know. Wagon though.... sexy.

There will be no RS4 sedan, just as there has not been since the B7 (and was not prior to the B7).
As someone mentioned above, there will be an RS5 Sportback for the first time (previous generation was A5 and S5 only, and furthermore, not sold in the US). And indeed, just like the A5 and S5 Sportback have already, it will come to the US. |

If BMW released an M3 wagon in the US, my guess is that a quarter of M3 owners would buy or trade-in for it. The reasoning is it's a niche market. There's just not that many badass performance wagons in the US and enthusiasts would flock to it.

Also, you have to consider that there is no M3 Touring even in wagon-friendly EU countries. Furthermore, the few times they have offered an M5 Touring overseas, it has been sold in very small numbers. I understand that you hypothesize that the sales potential in the US is actually greater than it is overseas due to the limited competition. But, even if that could be shown to be the case, you still can't justify building the car only for the US. And if you are a BMW exec (or any exec at any automaker) you cannot get up at the board meeting and say, "Guys - despite that we cannot sell enough in Europe to make a business case, if we just add the wagon-averse US market into the picture, that'll put us over the edge and where we need to be." Again, I do see your point, but its just that no one is going to do that. I'll bet you wouldn't even, were you in the position with the data in front of you. |

Damn....would love to see the RS4 Avant makes its way over to the U.S. But, one can only dream.... Especially since this country is flooded with over-sized SUVs and trucks. To bad the market wouldn't be able to support more vehicles like this.

I agree that introducing a wagon in today's market is risky business. There's so many small to mid size SUVs to compete with. Outside of enthusiasts, there's not many out there willing to pay north of $65K for a wagon even if it carries an M3 badge. Considering many enthusiasts orders their cars, it would be cool to see a wagon option. It is hard to imagine BMW dedicating an assembly line only to fulfill a few thousand orders worldwide though.

It's a freakin station wagon. What kind of real man drives a family trickster station wagon? Seriously, station wagons are beyond bad which is why so few are made.

Even if it flies it's still an ugly wagon...

I have a B7 RS4. I'd love it if they brought the B9 to the US. I don't think it will happen though. Also, part of the appeal of the B7 to me is the manual transmission. That also will not be happening on any Audi RS anytime soon.
I've complained many time to Audi about it. Won't change anything though.

I love them because they're major sleepers - which make them fun.
