Clear Bra and Tint on Lease Car?

Hi all -- would you spend the $ to clear bra and tint a lease car? I hate seeing rock chips on my car, but then I think why spend any money on a car I will be returning in maybe 2-3 years? Thoughts? Thank you.

I did. Tint makes complete sense for 3 years. Paint film is more personal preference. I hate the chips and thought I could potentially decide to buy the car so made sense for me. The last car I had without it had chips all over the front bumper and hood from highway driving so it was either film or buy lease return protection because it would cost me to return the car if it got that chipped up.

My tint was about $500 so for 3 years it's worth the price - especially in Texas!

And the front was clear-bra'd by the dealer so I didn't have that concern.

I did clear bar and tint on my lease car but I am planing to buy out the car if there is no problem after 3 year. If not going to keep, just tint and protection plan is good enough

just about 100% the same for me - minus the prior car being all pock-marked and turning into an issue at lease return.

Tint - cheap to do; if you like it, do it.
PPF - can you deal with chips and the like on the front of your car? Really it depends a lot on the color, but if you're anal retentive about the appearance of your sport sedan, it's not a terrible investment - even moreso if you leased, like me, just because the rates that month were phenomenal. Figured it'd protect me against loss of value on any incidents that may happen in the first 3 years, and the cost differential upon buyout was easily worth the safety margin. I assumed, upon order, about 85% likelyhood I would end up buying it out.

If I got it in the 6 speed, I likely would be.....

Def worth it. If you take pride in the appearance of your car and small rock chips would bother you then the clear bra is worth it. Own or lease it's still your car to drive until you get rid of it.

I couldn't vote because I don't like tint...

But I'd put on a clear bra. It's worth the money to not worry about it for three years and for the ease of clean up. And it is certainly worth it if you are even considering buying the car. For the F80, extending the rear fender OE pieces is essentially mandatory, and while you are there you might as well do the front...

I put clear bra on my car, but only because I own it and even then I felt like the cost was high. Unless you have more money than you know what to do with or you think you may buy the car at the end of the lease, I'd save the money or use it elsewhere.

If you're looking for the right spot, just stop by and see their work before you spend your hard earned money. Make sure the job is being worked on by him and only him. Good luck bud.

I did full opti coat pro 2.0 and xpel on certain parts of my F31 lease. No garage, not much free time to detail, my wife drives it sometimes, etc. Kept the car looking fantastic for 3 years with minimal effort on my part, which was the whole point. Plan to do it with other cars too, at least until we move and have dedicated space for me to work on them. I'm just very picky about how the car looks, and I drive like a honey badger, so my cars usually collect a ton of rock chips here in north Jersey.

I'm doing it on my lease. I may keep the car though. Is there any decent way to protect the inter coolers and radiators from rocks?

You should keep the car, it looks f'n sweet!! Anything that blocks the rocks will also block the primary component needed for them to function. You could keep it in the garage, guaranteed no rock chips, but not nearly as fun...lol

I personally hate the look of a clear bra. A few chips here and there are no big deal, these cars are meant to be driven and it's inevitable it's going to get wear and tear from daily use.

But for you, depends on if you plan on buying the car out at the end of the lease or not, and how anal you are with rock chips, etc.

Personally, if it's a lease and you plan to return the car, I wouldn't spend the $$ to keeping it nice for the next buyer. Tint isn't a big deal...few hundred tops. Clear bra is like $950-1k+.

At least if you buy a diffuser, wheels, tune, etc you can at least put the stock parts back on and resell them. You aren't getting anything back for a clear bra.

Also, if it's loaded in rock chips and you can't stand it, just respray the front bumper. It would be way less expensive than a clear bra.
