I would either go with the first option, assuming you want that color combination, or ride your car for another year or two and wait for the prices to drop a bit more.

i would not recommend you go with any car unless it has the competition package.
also, comparing a new 2018 competition package versus a 2015 (first year) m4 is almost like comparing different cars. the 2018 version has many unpublished updates AND the competition package.

The key question is thew 2018 worth 23k more. Longer warranty, 3 years free maintenance, iDrive 6 versus iDrive 5, comp package, extended leather, car play. Plus 1st year depreciation already taken

I'd keep your M6.. Honestly wait it out, and see whats out there in another year or two. Going from a V8 TT to the M4's Inline 6 TT will be a tough pill to swallow. The M6 has already taken the strongest of its depreciation hit and its still a great car to look at. Maybe add downpipes and tune if you want to freshen things up. Just my 2 cents

All good points. I know comp package is worth it, but if you threw 5k at the 2015 (exhaust, coilovers, tune) would you not approximate the result?
Keeping M6 is a good option, would be the adult thing to do (but who wants to be an adult). Here is the 2018 showing interior and a picture of my car.\

The new M6 will costs $130k plus which is far more than I am willing to spend. 90k is my max, so saving 14k on the 2018 seems appealing. Just not sure its worth the 23k premium over the 2015.

I drove an M4 coupe 2015 today (neighbor's car).
Sounded louder than the M6 Lots of low speed torque Stiffer Felt smaller and more nimble brakes were grabby (carbon ceramic) seat was harder and too small, plus no thigh support (I think convertible uses a diferent seat) Screen was sharper but smaller

Looked at the 2018 M4 today. Compared price only to the 2015 M4, this is what I came up with:
Individual Paint 1,950 Full Leather 2,550 Comp Package 4,250 Active Blind 500 Active Drive Asst 500 Wireless Charging 500 Apple CarPlay 300 Three Years Maintenance 2,995 Longer Warranty 4,766 New car smell priceless Total $18,311 2018 cost $24k more (57k versus 81k). Still not sure what I will do.

First I'd get the dog out of the M6 , second I would keep the M6, tune it or something. That is so much more rare than the M4. That means something to me.
Tuned the M6 has got to be faster also. More portly yes, but doesn't appear you are a avid track guy so who cares just for the street? |

Ian1973...If I keep I will consider adding downpipes, tune and exhaust from Active Autowerke, they are down here in South Florida.
Dog is my Co-Pilot.

Is there a question? What are options on the other car?
Also, your website needs a redesign.

I received ~4 oil changes, one brake fluid change, 2 new sets of wipers, one new cabin air filter, one new set of spark plugs, and I believe a new engine air filter. Oil changes on these cars are worth, at the very most, $150 - it's 7 quarts of $6/quart oil, a $10 filter, and labor. Wipers are cheap. Air filters are cheap. Spark plugs - let's give them the benefit of the doubt at $500 for plugs + labor. Brake fluid flush is worth $200 max. 3 years of maintenance is worth, maybe, $1200-1500 during the first 3 years of the car. At the most and assuming BMW rates. If you DIY at all, it is worth alot less than that. Price accordingly.

While I am a member of few words... it seems you've already made up your mind to get an M4. Reality is, if you decide to keep your M6 (tune or not tune), within a few months you'll be back at looking for a replacement. Once the bug hits, you have to move forward!
Between the two listed, go for the 2018. It's the one that you'll have less regrets about. If you get a 2015, you'll always be thinking about the 2018 with competition package that got away. The money factor dissipates after a little while, and you're left with the car at hand. |

I think I will wait at least until next summer. M6 is paid for and under warranty until 10/18 so the grown-up in me says be patient. That said, may do a jb4 tune, intake and sport exhaust for fun while I wait.
