Thumbs up Owner F80 M3 Dyno and Weight: Let the modding begin!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Here's what we've all been waiting for! This being the first F80 at our facility, forum member tightie decided to inspect this Yas Marina Blue M3 on a lift, weigh it on the scales and strap it to our dyno.

We love everything about this car, but we did happen to notice that the wheels were quite sunken in. To correct this problem we immediately installed 20mm Macht Schnell spacers in both the front and the rear, pushing the wheels out to their proper position without causing any rubbing.

On the scales, this F80 weighed in at 3590lbs (pounds) with a nearly 50/50 weight distribution. The dyno numbers are what really impressed us, though. BMW claims this motor makes 425hp and 406lb-ft tq at the crank; on our Dynojet this M3 recorded 424hp and 425lb-ft tq at the wheels! Oh yeah, it actually sounds pretty good too — check out the dyno video below to hear it for yourself. We took a ton of photos to give you an up-close and personal look at this beautiful F80, so take a few minutes to soak it all in and enjoy.

Modifications
- iND Yas Marina Blue pre-painted Front Reflectors
- Macht Schnell Compeition Wheel Spacers (20mm Front & Rear)

Tune is next, can't wait for round 2.

Enjoy!

I wonder if anyone still cares to dispute dyno numbers on a dynojet. They are dead on with the other dyno. Awesome looking car and pics!

So the car is really pushing 500 hp and 500lb toque?

If it's true, I imagine quite a few happy owners.

Glad to see these dyno results duplicated by separate dynos. These cars are making good power as I hoped.

No, I would use no more than a 12% drivetrain loss. Between this and other dynojet numbers, between 475-480hp crank.

I agree... which means upgrading wheels will be largely for looks alone... the most you will get in real weight savings might be a few pounds at best.

(Slightly off topic) Are those LED lights and contrasted stitching without full leather?

Thanks for posting, really informative!

Contrast stitching is present in the car regardless of Full Leather.
