Canadian F80 owners... Still love your M3?

F80 owners out there... How have you liked your M3 over time? Ok daily driver including winters?

If I buy this car it will be my 4th BMW in less than a year.

I have tried other brands but keep coming back to BMW. Never had an M3 before but I seem to get bored of cars quickly ha ha. I want something I can enjoy for a couple years.

Any feedback would be great!!!

Love it! I've had 12 cars over the last 12 or so years and I know I'll be keeping this one for at lease 3-4 years. People thought I was crazy buying a rwd car like this, especially with the weather we get in Edmonton. in 1995 I got my first car was a rwd 1980 grand prix and I survived driving it in the winter running all seasons.

Needless to say, the M is light years ahead of my first car, so I can survive with a 1980 grand prix.. I most certainly will with this.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

DO IT lol

RWD is definitely okay, the DSC will intervene so quick before you loss control
But winter tire is a must, then you will have more braking and accelatrating than most of none winter cars on road(most of people use all season tires)

And its good car, can drive it in most of occasions.

IMO RWD is better in the snow then FWD. Both need winter tires, but its an urban myth you have better control with front wheel drive.

No idea how the F80 will do because my first winter is coming, but ill definitely a proper set of winters put on.

I am, well I'm in Montreal for the summer (drove her here) and I'm running blizzaks also. I would of went Nokian (best winter tire IMO, but they didn't have the stock size.

I should be back in etown by September.

Drove through the winter with winter tires. i put nokian hakkapellitta 8 on 18 inch wheels (non studed). No problem at all. Even at - 20 c the tires stick like crazy. Plus the electronis differential really help put the power down.

Now if you are going skiing every weekend, then maybe you should consider an x drive. I'm in montreal BTW.

And yes I still love my austin yellow baby. I still stare at it from different angles.

Just drove to connecticut. No problem at all.

In Calgary, have driven F80 through 2 winters, no problems and, yeah, still love the car.

You don't need X Drive. AWD helps at getting going from a stop....and that is about it. Braking and turning are all about grip, which good winters will give you.

(In Calgary with the mild winters I use Michelin PA4s. In the 'Chuck where are you are more likely to be on packed snow or ice instead of pavement...I might go with something a little more hard core, like Hakka's or something)

To deal with getting going from a stop (if on ice or snow), just feather the throttle a bit and not a bad idea to add a little weight to the trunk (eg: sand bags over the rear axle)

You can't drive it in snow like you can in dry summer weather, but it is perfectly useable for urban driving.

and, if you do get dry pavement, it is just a fantastic machine (and I am coming up on 2 years and just under 19,000 km into it - and I am still looking to drive it as often as I can)

Where did you get your Hakka 8's? I thought they only came in a studded version?

I have been 4-season daily driving M3(4) for the past 16 years and never had an issue. With 4 good winter tires, the car is perfectly driveable. Once you accept the rear waltzes a little under acceleration, you're fine. I find the dance to be enjoyable .

Nicely done!

How do you like it so far? Did you go with the SO interior.

I too am looking for an M3 right now and have my eye on one with SO however, I have always been a black interior type of guy....SO would be stepping out of my comfort zone.

^ I have SO interior on the F80.

I had Black interior with orange stitching on my previous e92 m3 for 3.5 years.

The SO is so much better when you have carbon roof and no light coming in. It makes the interior more lively.

Yes have the SO and I agree with above ^ The SO makes the interior very vibrant.

The car is great!! Working on an exhaust set up that I am not embarrassed of on cold start, thinking it will be custom.

JB4 tune, secondary Catt delete, CF spoiler, paint to match front reflectors, ZCP Tips, BMC Air Filters all either installed or Enroute!
