What's the purpose of cut out seats, looks ? What's the benefit of them and due to that I believe lumbar support is non adjustable which can be an issue to some.

I find the adjustable lumbar support to be very convenient. For the daily drive, I inflate the lumbar support and open up the side bolsters for a nice comfortable seat. On long trips, I vary the height and shape of the lumbar support during the trip to rest my back. When I head to the track, I completely deflate the lumbar support, so I sit deep inside the seat and tighten the side bolster for a nice snug fit to hold me in place. I find the standard seat complements the dual nature of the M3/4 very well. A buddy of mine came over to my place last year to get his new CP M4 coded. We jumped back and forth between my car and his to try to identify differences between the seats. The CP seats felt pretty much like the non-CP seats with the lumbar support fully deflated.

As someone who has owned both, they feel the same.
The difference being the adjustable lumbar and the holes.

Possibly ventilation? Since "competition package" denotes track driving you sure can work up a sweat behind the wheel.

Nope. Not when the lumbar support on the standard seats is fully deflated.

Yup. The regular ones leave a lot to be desired unless I gained 200lbs.

Ok, but you're talking two different seats in two different cars. It irks me a bit when I hear the ZCP folks tout their non-adjustable lumbar support as if it's a lateral inclusion.

True - but adjustable lumbar support is not the be all and end all either. Even with my bad back, I drove from New Jersey to Texas in 48 hours, with no discomfort - I was really surprised.

I'm not in the camp that believes the ZCP is a superior build or anything like that, just a different way to configure the car. I was okay with justifying the additional price for the cosmetic offerings it provided so I checked the box, that's all. I've had gutted/caged track cars in the past on SPG's, no interest in feeling like a race car driver on my DD.

Does everyone forget that the CP gets you a different engine block bedplate. A much stiffer bedplate.
Same bedplate that is in the GTS.. Fear not, all the normal S55's got this bedplate as of production 12/15...

You can see the blanks for the cut outs in the back of the civic seats, it's like they already knew what they were going to do.
On the subject the seats are the most supportive I've had (civic ones) and remind me very much of the sports seats in my old 997.2 C2S which were also wonderfully supportive. I'd get a CP mind, I don't have one mine's a lowly civic but I did have both versions of the e92 M3 and the CP was worth it to me.
