End of the day its competition package> non competition package. But I'd say unless you have unlimited money to spen, it would have to depend on your specific needs. If you mod your car and prefer to have an individual look you should probably pass on the competition package and do your own thing. But if you prefer to keep a "stock look" then go for the competition package for sure. The one thing I absolutely am NOT a fan of in the competition package are the seats.

My daughter turns 15 in a year and I'm going to give her my e46 M3. I refuse to buy her a new one until she's at least 18. So i know what you mean.

6MT or DCT? 6MT to DCT - Any regrets? M3 6MT vs M3 DCT ZCP No one could tell you what to get, it's a personal choice, get what YOU want.

Was thinking to switch over to DCT for my M3 since it is faster and probably mates better with the S55. Test drove the 6MT (were rare in the DFW area) and realized I would have made the worst mistake have I gone with the DCT - the 6MT is a great transmission in this car! |

I had an E92 M3 with DCT and had the opportunity to test drive a 335is DCT. While it is the same physical unit in both cars, they are programmed completely differently. The DCT in the 335is is programmed to mimic the behavior of a standard automatic while the M-DCT in the M3 is programmed to mimic a manual transmission. It made a world of difference on how the respective cars felt and drove.

Me too, but it's hard to say why. The 2018s are way WAY WAY improved over the 2015, and I think that's what mostly makes the difference.
I will say the ZCP suspension is softer, 100%. My wife drives it in sport with the 20s and doesn't even notice vs the non-CP 2015 on 19s which got complaints every single time. Anyway, the 2018 is just a much better car than the 2015. There are lots of little things I like less (I swear they changed the gear ratios), but more that I like more. |
