I got flashed today!

I was able to do the MHD Stage 0 flash via my Android phone / Bimmergeeks cable.

I had emailed MHD Prior to today to be included in the testing for the F Series flashing.

The flashing itself was pretty uneventful. I had the BMW Trickle charger going prior for a couple hours to ensure my battery was topped up. I left that trickle charger going knowing I was taking a risk over using a proper power supply. ECU Flashed without incident. The time counter was accurate during the flashing process so I wasn't sitting there going 'well, are you actually flashing?'

One complaint is that MHD hasn't (yet) implemented functions like burbles and cold start delete to my knowledge. So I lost my Competition pack burbles for the time being. I also lost the start up 'roar' which is kinda nice.

For the tune itself, I've had very limited seat time with it, PLUS I also changed to Euro MDM Mode, instead of the US. I am also using it with a JB4 and Terrys Back end flash. I was in map1 for the driving I did. I have 1st and 2nd limited to 8 and 12 psi respectively arbitrarily while on winters (245 rears)

Throttle feels pretty much exactly the same which I like. Everything felt very linear. The biggest difference I noticed is between the BEF and the JB4 on map1 AND (this is important) the Euro MDM coding, the DME seems aware of the additional power the engine is putting out, and is okay with it. Prior when I was running JUST a jb4, even in MDM mode the tcu would intervene quite a bit at the first hint of wheel spin. Now when I have MDM mode on and I floor it, I get a ton of wheel spin, but the car also continues to pick up speed. the car will claw and fight for all the traction those poor 245's can get while spinning like mad, and the car keeps putting the power down, and keeps going faster.

There is none of the 'oh theres wheel spin, time to simulate full throttle closure' like I had before without the Euro MDM mode and BEF.

I find the car is much funner to me now.

Congrats! The BEF map BMS is developing actually also works on its own as a stand alone flash map. But it really shines when you kick the JB4 on using new firmware and settings designed for back end flash maps.

The free maps are a nice feature for JB4 owners, saves quit a bit of money over buying flash maps or paying someone for a custom tuned map that is locked down.

Mike

I’m confused.

Does the JB4/BMS ODB flash work in conjunction with the older external JB4 box or is it self contained in the new flash?

I've had the JB4 BEF flashed via MHD for a few weeks now, and the burbles never went away.

Hmm. Okay more testing is needed on my part obviously. Thanks for the hope Do you enjoy your cars performance? I'm just about done saving up for meth injection for summer.

Nice! I noticed that the burbles tend to fade away when I'm running low on blinker fluid, so I make sure to fill mine up using this special bottle every now and then.

Hey have you got a reliable source on 710 caps? I keep losing mine. I think I figured out why I thought I lost my burbles, because usually I run with a empty trunk, but I have about 10 medium sized dense cardboard moving boxes in the trunk muffling the sound.

I'm pretty sure I'm also going to code it back to US spec MDM. This car, even factory has issues with the 275 width tires from factory, so me running 245s in -11C (12.2F) is pretty silly.

I am really just so impressed with the amount of torque these S55 motors make with just ecu changes. It really makes for being all kinds of fun.
