Sort of along the same line, I parked my F80 in a parking garage and returned 2 hours later to find the doors locked and all windows rolled down. This happened once so I made the decision to wait till it happened again. It has been about 6 months and so far no repeat. OBTW the Windows do not operate from the key fob and it has not been coded. I have had the trunk pop open while driving. Came out last night after dinner and the trunk was open. I do have an aftermarket diffuser. I am not too sure that its the key fob pressing in my pocket though. Not once in my 135i has the trunk popped with the key in my pocket. This does seem to be more of an issue than I had thought.

Question my trunk keeps opening without my consent

anyone's trunk open for no apparent reason multiple times? keeps happening in the parking lot at work and people keep coming into my office to tell me "hey, your trunk is open again." This is on and off in the 2 months since I took delivery.

Additionally, YMB FTW!!

I think I have seen 2-3 threads on this. Most of the time it seems to happen accidentally when inside of a pocket and other things push against it. I really hope that's the case for you.

I'm sure that's what is happening. Make sure your remote is at the bottom of your pocket facing down so nothing can press against the buttons

Do you have an M performance or any type of diffuser installed? The carbon fiber diffusers cover the easy access kick sensor in that location which. not only makes the feature pretty much unusable but also has the side effect of randomly being triggered if the car is unlocked.

Agree with the posters above. Best solution is to get a key cover to avoid accidental presses on the remote. Only downside is that it does add a little bulk.

I've posted about my M4 doing this before. Dealer performed a software update and it hasn't done it since

You may also have to have a sit-down with her and talk to her about just opening her trunk for anyone. That is going to get her in to some trouble some day.

Hopefully a software update will fix the problem.

The BMW M-Performance key fob cover fixes this problem (I had it as well).
Unfortunately the key fob cover also introduces its own problem... pocket bulge..

You can put the trunk in valet mode to be safe. THere is a switch in the glove box.

This kind of thing could be prevented if manufacturers would just talk to their cars about consent. No means no.

Ugh... Sitting in line to pick my son up from school and listening to some great classic rock beats, drumming along to the tune. Suddenly in my rear view mirror I see the trunk rise. Crap. I get out and embarrassingly close it.

Lesson learned: use the steering wheel and not your lap for a drum pad or first remove the keys from your pocket.

I do not believe it is due to the button being depressed while in my pants. I could be wrong but I am in my office a good 100 yards (and several walls of concrete) away from the car when it occurs.

This sounds awfully similar to the time my buddy got his first remote start keyless car and was perplexed after going to his car after getting off an airplane and finding it out of gas. His first reaction was 'someone stole my gas!'. We have now convinced him that he left the sucker running when parking. User error?

This happened to me today. Got trunk open warning when I came to a stop. Checked rear view mirror and sure enough trunk was wide open. Got out and closed it. It was a bit embarrassing but WTH. I do have after market diffuser but its not carbon fiber so Im definitely thinking its the key fob in the pocket issue. Not sure how software update would fix this.

If it is aftermarket it might happen. I have Akrapovic diffuser and it hasn't happened at all to me.

I know some other diffusers have this problem since it doesn't fully cover the sensors for the kick trunk.
