Mangaflow cats aren't known for quality, they're just cheap. They can be had for ~$80ea on eBay - so lots of people opt for the cheaper price. GESI cats run for about $600 each, but they flow well and last for a very long time. Expect to be replacing the Magnaflow cats within 2-3 years, BMWs eat these things up. Save up, and get the right part the first time, so it doesn't end up costing you more in the long run.

I'd have to agree you get what you pay for. Cheap cats are cheap for a reason.
If I personally went with a high flow catted opitin I'd want a higher quality cat otherwise don't bother. |

Stock cats are not high flow.
They are designed for emissions restrictions and not performance. Usually 400 cell and up given the free flowing nature of piping proximal to it. |

Im not aware of any brand that gives you 100% guarantee of no CEL but you want to get an Euro cat or similar.
A generic cat will probably result in a CEL Keep in mind the higher the cat quality is the more expensive the downpipe will be.

You'll need a tune to take care of the CEL if installing a catless or HFC catted downpipe.

Gesi / hjc are much like a factory spec cat. It has similar flow properties and that’s why they don’t throw check engine lights (cel). They will also have a similar lifespan of stock cats for that reason as well.
200 cell metallic race cats will typically make power as they flow better vs gesi/hjc. Drawback is that because they flows more, the o2 sensors will also read more. This is why the cel will come up. Metallic cats are little bit more durable and tend to deal better with high heat applications. They won’t have longevity like a factory or gesi/hex cats, but they’re race cats and are not meant for longevity. Stock or gesi/hjc will get maybe 100,000 miles and you should expect to get about half of that on 200 cell race metallic cats. Honest truth is that they are unlikely to fail. We will all probably be in another car before that even comes up. All the options are solid choices, just weigh out the pros and cons to make the decision for yourself!
