The agony of choosing color! Tanzanite or Yas Marina?

Yes, this is another color poll.

This will be my 2nd f80. Currently I drive AW/SO.

I ordered another M3 a few weeks ago and it goes into production in a couple of weeks. Already changed ext. color twice!

I'm set on Silverstone interior. I'm getting ZCP with black Satans.

YMB - every time I saw it in person I loved it! Love the CF roof contrast. Looks great with CF bits and tint.

Tanzanite - Classy! It would probably look better with silver 666 wheels. I only saw it once in Cali a few months ago.

I wish I could look at them back to back, but it's not logistically easy where I live.

I hate drawing attention and that's why I'm hesitating to order YMB.

Please vote.

That was an easy poll to answer for me since I really dislike YMB, looks too much like smurf blue to me. On the other hand, I find Tanzanite to be really elegant with a lot of depth to it, it is a color I like a lot.

I can't believe this is a poll - there are three people in the world that like Yas and those are the three who actually bought it on accident!

j/k - it does look better in person - but wow, vs. Tanzanite? not even close.

And yes, the silver wheels go better - wish they offered the 19s in silver with the CP. Would be a stunning car.

Noooooooo! That's another dilemma I had. Silver vs black 666 on TB.

God damn it.

I agree.. especially because 1) I don't have a dedicated garage 2) I live in Northeast winters 3) I have a 1.5 y/o Accord that I keep finding a ridiculous amount scratches, scufffs, nicks, and chips on...no idea how ANY of them got there...if this was the M3, and an extra $5k paint job I'd be in damn tears looking at this shit.

And I've decided:
1) I'll never do black paint again (can't keep clean; prone to blemish blasphemy)
2) I'll never invest in a custom paint unless I have a personal detailer and a dedicated garage for the car

Could you please elaborate, especially since we are both in FL and see our cars under same lighting conditions. Thanks!

You do realize YMB is one of the colors with the highest uptake. One of the reasons I don't like it is precisely because of its so popular...M3/4s are not very common yet every time I see another one on the road it is usually YMB.

With that said my vote went YMB...love it!

I don’t think it is very popular, curious about the uptake you mention? I’ve seen three in my entire life and one was at a dealer.

And it is sad when that’s the only blue (to me) and the only way to get another blue is to drop an additional $1,250. Then again, that’s bettter than the red choices.

lol dont read too much into it, I am just saying I like Tanz more than YMB. I bought my car CPO and color wasnt that important to me. A YMB one popped up at the right price so I got it. But if I was ordering new it wouldnt have been my first choice. I have just seen a lot of Tanz pics on here lately and with silver or brown interior and silver wheels I think it looks awesome and classy.

I will say though the best part about YMB is it certainly shows the lines very well and makes it obvious it is an M car whereas dark colors like black tend to blend in and make the unique M features such as the wheel arches and hood bulge difficult to see, especially from a distance.

I guess it depends on the area you live in. I see a lot of YMB M3/4's in south florida.

That's pretty unlikely. Here is the final breakdown for the E9x generation. Interlagos Blue - a color that, more than likely, has greater mass appeal than Yas Marina Blue - was handily outsold by white, black, gray, silver (as is typically the case with most production vehicles). We can expect the F8x generation to turn out similarly.

I live in South FL as well and M3s/M4s are a dime a dozen.

That being said, they aren't YMB in most of the cases, but they are not uncommon by any measure. I'd say most of them are white or black. A close third would be YMB.
