Got a new F80 M3 - lovin it

Hi guys,

I'm new into this forum. Just bought a 2016 LCI M3 on August and got delivered on October. Below are the first pics of the car (later on will take better ones).

Some details of it:
- Silverstone Metallic paint
- Manual Trans
- Carbon Structure cloth interior
- CF trim
- Executive Package
- OEM 19" black rims

So far, the car is is a blast to drive. Not only powerful, but also nimble in the corners and in the highway (lane changing). It's just so fun, that sometimes I take the longer route back to home (without traffic). I had a W204 C63 before this one and the ride is more livable on the M3 and the car is much more maneuverable.

Have two questions: Is there any way to disconnect the rev-matching for Sport mode? and also: Why are there surplus of new M4s at the dealerships, when there are none M3s available immediately? I believe we always need to place a production order

M3's are in higher demand than M4's currently...meaning they wont sit on the dealer lot very long. My dealer told me, they would order an M3 and it would be sold before it even got to them.

If this stays true, your M3 should hold its value and sell better than the M4 later one.

You were 1 Exec Pack away from a near stripper, and one of the lightest M3's you can get

As far as M3 vs M4, I think M4's outsell the M3's so dealers order more M4's. It's a little different on the forums.

I know! However, I can't live without a rearview camera now. Makes parking much easier, specially with that low front bumper hanging around. I really like the HUD display, that is a neat feature.

Nice car! My car will be very similar -- SS, cloth. Only differences is silver 19s and no exec. Can you post some pics of the interior?

Welcome aboard and congratulations on a fine looking M3. If you are like most of us you will only love the car more the longer you drive it.

1) No way to deactivate rev matching. The only way to avoid it is to use SPORT+, which brings with it a very twitchy response to the loud pedal. But it is way fun.....

2) BMW historically sold far more 2 door M3 than 4 door M3 (by as much as a 4 to 1 ratio), and the 4 door versions always had a shorter production run. It is planned that way for the F8X as well - the F80 ends 2 years before the F82/F83. It is believed that as part of the product planning, BMW planned for a M3/M4 split along the historical average. The new M3 is far more popular than predicted and BMW is not making enough of them to satisfy demand, and has not significantly adjusted production ratios either. That's why its harder to find one - and that hasn't changed since start of production.

Similar thinking here... The camera was something I actually wasn't that interested in but I really wanted HUD again which is the only reason I got Exec Pkg. I was on the fence about cloth and since Leather was included I just got it. For weight purposes I wish I hadn't, but oh well...
