F80M3 Concept-Car in Geneva 2013?
Is there an chance, that we could see an M3 Concept-Car on the Geneva Autoshow in March 2013 ... and eventually an internet-preview in Februar - about one month earlier like it was the case with the NAIAS 4er Coupe Concept in December 2012.
I remember, that Scott26 wrote something about an silverstone II F80M3 scheduled for an presentation. Greets Uli_HH |

Nope, no chance at all. We expect a concept car later this year, though.
Best regards, south

They produce prototypes of models that travel around the globe for internal events and marketing purpose well ahead of the launch. The M3 is one such model that has to be showcased to the BMW global distribution network so they can commence preliminary marketing work for their country.
Two examples are if you will. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The car does not go on sale until next summer. But BMW UK are already showing a RHD example in preliminary marketing. The second is the BMW X5 which shows that a lot of the marketing on this model and others are almost complete even though the car is still months from launch. Given the launch of the BMW M5 Concept at Shanghai 2011 it is always a possibility that the M3 Concept could appear at the Shanghai auto show in 2013. Again for similar reasons why the M5 appeared. M sales in China are again in double figures in percent increase and every second M3 built goes to a customer in China. Chinese customers are also going crazy for the 3er in both standard and extended wheelbase options. Then of course there will be another M festival in 2013.

Development is too advanced for things like the engine to be subject to change. It'll be an inline 6 and nothing else.

You know, I'm curious about the new guy running the restaurant, hence the suggestion.

haha, i hope not, thats silly. the price for M3 in China is at least twice as much as it in the US, and M3 is a high-performance car after all, so I dont think people who could afford this rly care about legroom.

Surprisingly the rear seats in the GC's have very limited leg/head room.
I was comparing the F10 M5 back seat to the 650 GC yesterday at the dealer and found the M5 had more rear leg room that the 6GC. Surprisingly neither have overly abundant rear leg room since the seatbacks on the comfort seats are very thick and cut in on leg room. |

Scott's predictions sounds pretty good. I have been researching the release of the Concept M5 and its timeline towards production release. Since the M3 and M4 are part of two different "classes" 3 series and 4 series, one could argue that two distinct Concept cars would be released separately. The M5 concept sedan was released in Shanghai 2011 while the 6 series M was released later that year as a Gran Coupe. SO it could be that BMW follows suits with its other M sedan the M3. Only time will tell.
