Pretty good result from the M4.

Nice for the M4. I wonder how will the M4 do, when these cars come out with their latest editions?

awesome. doesn't get much better than that. obliterated the RS5 and beat the Cayman S (and if there were ever a track where the Cayman would shine, it would be a tight, short track like this).

Is there a reason why the RS5 is the favorite punching bag of all the european journalists? Auto express has been hating on the RS5 since it first came out. To them if it can't slide then it's no fun. Put the M4 up against a C63 507 or an E92 and tell us something we don't already know

Okay. This video plus the thread on that BMW that crashed got me thinking. That driver in the video was drifting and if it was an average driver, he/she could have ended up hitting a tree or getting into an accident. I think for the daily driving, you're not going to drift on the local roads. I own a Audi S5, so I take for granted the traction on the turns. I'm an above averaging commuting driver, but it looks like it'll be a good idea for me to sign up for performance driving school when I get the M4 in. Goood reality check for me! I don't intend to go tracking that often, but I think in cases when I might "accidentally" drift, at least I'll know what to do.

You would have to turn off every single traction control system to allow the car to slide like it did in the video. But on the other hand a BMW class would be a lot of fun as well.

Don't turn DSC off. Hell, you can get a 240hp E36 to drift if you turned all the nannies off. Having said that, doing driving schools is never a bad idea.

Nice test, I can't get over how good the M3/4 looks with AY. IMHO, I think in the looks department, it slaughters the RS5.

Umm? Did you actually watch the video. He said the RS5 was the current benchmark of the segment.

I'm not saying that the M4 isn't a great car. I'm not saying that it's not faster than the RS5 (particularly on the tracK). What I am saying is that this is the third "track battle" I've seen against the same exact 6 yr old car (the RS5). And it would be nice to see how the M4 competes against other rivals to the RS5 ie. e92 M3, 1series M, C63 507(which I'm sure it'll still be faster than all of these). Auto Express already preferred the E92 M3 to the RS5 5 years ago. Telling us the M4 is faster than a RS5 is a no-brainer - it better be. At this point it just seems more like an ego stroking comparison than anything else. Of course, when the M4 loses to newer rivals like the C7, the 911, the Jaguar F-Type, suddenly everyone on here wants to claim it's not a fair fight. I will say the video itself of the M4 drifting is a very nice. And that's one of the main reasons why I wanted the M4 because of its ability to powerslide.

hmm

I cant hear the audio but it Looks like the M4 has CCB on it. Still think it would be faster than the RS5 but not by the same margin at all. Those brakes, if on this car, are insane for this comparison. At least have the same spec in the RS5.

Love how these car mags seem hell bent on mismatched comparison tests. Of course a weaker braking car will lose. Especially the heavy RS5.

@ trinim3 the RS5 came out in 2010.... It's not 6 years old. Also the e92 m3 came out on 2007 that didn't stop comparisons between the RS5 and the older M3

Yes 2010 - my mistake. I don't have a problem with the comparison persay, I'm just saying I want to see some variety in the comparison tests. Why is it always the RS5? I realize the comparison tests are from independent magazines so it's not like they'll collude to see who will compare what to what. I guess Audi should take it as a compliment. Hopefully the Audi engineers are hard at work on the B9!

Kudos to the M4. On the track it looks mighty impressive.
