Not a pain at all, we just were limited with time on these as we are getting ready for Bimmerfest.

The install is similar to the E92 M3 M button for reference.

When I say a pain , I meant having to disassemble the entire steering wheel for the access. Not that is hard or difficult.

Would look much better if the M2 button was on the other side where the microphone button is. Not feeling this

Agreed I don't like the asymmetry of the red only on one side.

Me three...love the idea of red buttons, but only with symmetry. Oh well, that's something to look forward to in the G8X cars

My wife's B9 S4 has a torque converter automatic (the ZF8) and it feels nearly as responsive as the DCT in my car but a million times smoother. If that's what the G8X ends up with it, hooray. The clunkyness of the DCT at low speeds still annoys me.

Well I guess that's what I lament. Every brand is basically going the same recipe: a turbocharged AWD with the ZF8

On the topic of iND....

is this a legit store or the best store for f80 parts?
For some reason I feel like amazon would be safer... not sure though, just took delivery last week, havent bought a thing yet since.

it'd be cool if you can relocate the voice command button (seriously who uses it) and switch it with the M2 button to make the red accents symmetrical... though that sounds like a rewiring nightmare.

in any case.... red button all the things.

Custom colors like they do for the reflectors and such would be great, actually.

I don't mind the asymmetry as the placement makes sense because the two red buttons are for M1 and M2.

They're one of the top shops for this platform. Being local, I've used them numerous times.

On the topic of symmetrical red M buttons, what are the odds that an M5 wheel could be retrofitted? Obviously you would need the appropriate air-bag, but otherwise the functionality is similar. The only other difference I can easily see is the heater button placement.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have wondered that- those M1/2 buttons are pretty sweet on the new M5.
