Who has installed the Dinan exhaust system? Impressions?

I am about to pull the trigger on the Dinan exhaust system but wanted to see who has installed it and what your impressions are thus far and if you installed it yourself or paid to have it installed. Before all the anti-Dinan comments start, I am going with this system for a couple of reasons.

1. Based on the videos I've seen it sounds like a nice upgrade from stock. I'm not looking for much in terms of power gains, just mostly appearance and sound
2. Price point with valve functionality

I know that there are other great exhausts systems out there, but I don't want to spend over $3k for one.

I appreciate any and all input.

Expensive? It seems like $2500 for the Dinan exhaust is about the cheapest on the market with valve control. Any other suggestions?

$2500 for a Dinan Muffler? Do yourself a favor and stay away. You can get a full system from other competitors for a little more and they will sound much better. Dinans tip design is also lacking in my opinion.

You can get a Magnaflow Sport for under $2300. It is a valved catback exhaust (installs behind the secondary cats like the MPE), and deletes the undercar resonator and replaces it with a xpipe. I think pricewise, its the best deal for an M4 exhaust. You might have an easier time selling a used Dinan muffler, though... so something to consider.

For the love of God please don't install a magnaflow on this car. Stick with companies who specialize in german/exotic applications.

Magnaflow is a company that literally makes an exhaust for everycar. No engineering or anything.

Ok... whatever you say. You go ahead and pay $6k for an exhaust. I'll stick with my "everycar" exhaust. I think this one came off of a civic before they stuck it on my car.

$6k? There are many options in the $3k-$4k range. Not every system has to be Akrapovic on here (Which I am not even a fan of on this car).

Sorry but anyone who pays $2300 for a Magnaflow =

I have heard the Dinan on an F82 and I thought it was an improvement over stock. I will agree that the tips were not that great, though. After hearing it, I decided to go with AWE. For about $1000 more I can get a full catback system that sounds great, not just better.

In the end, isn't it all about how it sounds? Or does the name stamped on the pipe matter that much to you?

I dunno how you still got more hate after that pic. . . That setup looks beautiful. End of the day the other manufacturers are charging A LOT for a sound upgrade (yes I've seen 15-20hp claim gains fron exhausts and NO I've never felt any of them). You got a video of that thing I'd love to hear it and I'm not a complete brand whore. I've got a Chinese CF diffuser to prove it.

It's all good. I'm completely happy with my exhaust... the opinions of people who have never heard it don't bother me at all.

Videos in the thread. I will say that youtube videos are not the best representation of the sound of any exhaust. In person, this exhaust sounds much deeper.

My buddy Mike has the Dinan exhaust with the black tips. I looks great and sounds awesome. It pops more at low speeds then the factory exhaust and is louder but not in your face loud. I was not even considering it until I saw it and heard it.

Dinan exhaust

My Dinan goes in tomorrow. I've only heard it static, but sounded about what I'm looking for.

Awesome - I'm interested to hear your thoughts! Mind taking some video of it both in and out of car?
