Standard Adaptive LED's have auto leveling. Meaning they adapt to the angle of the car (like heavy weight in the back) and will go up and down to adjust when you start the car. The standard bi adaptive LED's have been this way since the F30 LCI whick comes standard in the US with M-sport package. FULL Adaptive LED lights include this feature, plus corning lights and they turn with the steering wheel. Standard LED's must have the auto leveling feature to prevent blinding on coming cars. Even my e92 335i & 640i xenon's had auto leveling. My friend has a MY16 F30 with bi LED's, and they auto level. I have a MY16 M4 with full adaptive with highbeam assist and they do everything. Personally I love the full adaptive options, but could live without it.

Which makes sense because they are much less brighter than my M4 with full adaptive LED. They also have a smaller Led turn signal bar. No halogen at all though. These don't turn with the wheel but They do have the newer style angel eyes though.

The pic of the mule M4 above has Xenon. That's why you see only the putter two bulbs lit up. Must be an older mule.

The nice part is that if you don't want to pay for the full adaptive the standard option is far better than the Xenons were.

Just when one thinks BMW couldn't make the headlamp nomenclature more confusing, they set out and prove that wrong.

There are 3 "4er LCI" LED Headlamp types:

5A2: Bi-LED

5A2 + 524: Adaptive LED with Extended Content

552: Full Adaptive LED, Icon Light.

US/CAN get #2 standard and #3 as an option.

MY2018 M4 Coupe

So with all this info available (even without actual pricing) does that mean that US dealers have allocations and are now taking orders for 2018 M4s? You can get a production number and spec it to your liking even though no firm production dates are scheduled?

While the pre-LCI LED headlights were standard in Germany, the US stiil got the Xenon as srandard. It is quite possible the US will be getting the bi-LED as standard with the full LED as optional just like in Canada.

So what is difference in appearance between #2 and #3 above? Do they look the same and just function differently? What is the Icon light? All the pics on the press release look the same.

All the press pics only show one type.

I guess, if you're optimistic, you can assume that the M3 will get the same $200 base price increase as the M4, and the same changes to the options packages. But nothing official has been released yet, it's all hearsay.

Some good in person shots from the 2017 Geneva Motor show this week of the LCI new black 666 rims. I actually like these rims now in this coloring.

So is it safe to assume that the 2018 LCI M4 that I had built last week (with the "new" standard LED headlights rather than the optional Adaptive ones) will look like these? Has anybody actually SEEN what the standard LEDs look like? So much conflicting info and photos online.

Yes, I've seen that post, but BMW's press materials are notoriously inaccurate, and it's just an artist rendering not an actual photo of the real thing. Why wouldn't the 3-series and 4-series get the same standard LED lights shown in post #417?
