I got a oem steering wheel for sale if you're interested. I replaced mine with the M performance wheel.

It makes the leather shine and greasy, but that goes away when you sit on it.

I just greased it, but you can see there are no cracks, flaking, no issues whatsoever with my seats other than the loosening of the leather through sitting and holding on WOT as my ass moves back into the seat.

3 years and 30k miles.

Attachment 1728757

That is definitely NOT good.

You shouldn't be using anything that makes your seats look that greasy.

It is covered under warranty by the one-time premature wear and tear condition.

Dealers are not that willing to invoke that for whatever reason, but BMWNA will cover it if properly requested.

Any conditioner you put on will look greasy. But then after it dries out overnight it will be back to a matte finish again. But you should always use a cleaner first on the leather before you condition.

If there is a better solution, I'm all ears. We use a professional detailer for my folks cars and they use another brand, but it is the same result.

When you have dry skin, you put moisturizers on and what happens? it's greased up and goes away after a bit.
I use leather masters myself for that matte finish, but like I said, it couldn't clean my wife's car, which is absolutely filthy from kids, dogs, roadtrips, offroading, beach days etc. Maybe I didn't use enough cleaner. So I hired a professional detailer and he managed to deep clean, but I was not a fan of the glossy look. He did an excellent job though, better than I would have. The interior looks almost new! I just wish it wasn't so glossy.

The photo should have been shot better- during the day.

Here's my passenger seat on my X5M- which I apply the same treatment.

No grease man- It comes off.

Not 30k miles like my m3, but still- 13k miles, no cracks, nothing, and I have plenty of passengers in this car.

Finger nails?

Holding something in your hand and wheel turned?

I've seen that exact type of "cracking" but it's from self-inflicted damage.

Not any type of normal wear from what I see in the picture.

I don't think anyone meant that the only possible cause of that damage is a ring; rather that a ring is one example of ~10,000,000,000,000,000 possibilities*, so you might need to use your imagination to come up with other possible causes / examples that could apply for you specifically.

For instance, another cause might be if you're holding keys in your hand while reversing into a spot and whipping the wheel around ... At least that's how it happened to me.

*note: only an estimate

I went to several dealers, none of them covered it! Even tried calling BMW NA and open a case but they denied it immediately!

There is, just use a good leather cleaner (Zymol/Swissvax etc...)not a conditioner our leather is painted and doesn't need conditioning it's not aniline.

All he's doing is smearing cream on to the leather and then wiping it off with his bum.

It's covered. Both my m4 and x6 had to be replaced. Mine did not crack, but the outer layer of color wore completely off in several spots. Now, keep in mind that I have a great relationship with the manager of my service department and he knows that I keep my cars pristine....those things may contribute to the ease with which I got my wheels replaced. Both were shot around 30k miles

I've found that's what usually happens when you try to scam people with ridiculous requests.

...but after 15 years of marriage, I think tonight might be the night!

Did you have the same damage as the OP or are you the OP?

I was whipping doughnuts in the parking and hit a light pole and now my rear quarter panel has premature wear and crumpling.

I'm pretty sure the BMW warranty is going to cover it.

Yeah, I mean from the picture it's pretty clear he damaged the wheel.

Don't see why BMW would cover it unless they're being super nice and have some extra steering wheels lying around.

That's interesting, but I have had my previous m3 bolsters crack and tear after use. My nappa on the c63 also started to wear and dry l until I applied conditioner to stop it from further damage.

Gotta treat leather like your skin.

Needs some lotion to make it feel like a nice baby's ass and you can always give it a little spank after you rub the conditioner in.
