The 'I love my car' thread
No shortage of threads to challenge F8x owners on their cars (picking negative comments from reviews, color regrets threads, noise/complaint threads, etc) but, during our festive holiday hangover glows, why not have a thread where all F8x owners who just love their damn rides can say so without being accused of fanboy-ism or it devolving into a debate on BMW employment policies or whether a twin turbo six can have a soul? I think @sakhirm4 made something like this a while ago (and probably was shat upon for his trouble) but let's try again.
Hello. I am @myzmak. And even after only 100km, I love my car.

I love my car -- there's no other sedan that seats four adults comfortably that has the power and handling of the F80. I'm sure this will be even more true once my PURE turbos go on and I have a mid 10's sedan that can still turn.

Funny you should say that - I literally just posted a thread about a good holiday thrashing for the M3/M4 - I was having the exact same thoughts... I've had soooooo much fun with this car that some of the negative reviews blow my mind.
Although... I have to say that the Car and Driver issue for the Lightning Lap unquestionably liked the new F8x generation of M3 over the E9x generation, as did the Motor Trend Best Driver's Car 2014 (called the F8x the "best M Division product in years"). After a spirited drive in mine on uncharacteristically good Chicago-area weather for Christmas (blue skies, bone-dry roads and low 40's), those conditions, combined with winter tires, gave me great traction and I was able to fully enjoy all of the great attributes of the F8x generation (I loved my E93 convertible - that car was awesome fun too - but in dry conditions the F8x is definitely a step up in performance)... I'm actually looking forward to driving more in the snow to get used to the higher torque of the F8x generation - I've learned to modulate it better in the dry, now I'm ready to do the same for snow/ice (starting with full traction control on, of course...) |

nice post ! I love everything about my f82 i just tend to read past the unnecessary criticism although some points are valid most are just purist bias. Ive owned both a e60 m5 and a e92 m3 and loved them in their own respect. But to compare the legends to this new generation is ridiculous a merry-go-round convo with no apparent end. Different cars and they all deserve their own praise

No - it doesn't work - until you get back and appreciate it even more!! Enjoy your trip for what it is and then have a blast and appreciate it when you get back... I just can't wait for HPDE and autocross events once the weather gets nicer and I get my Michelin Pilot Super Sports back on in April... even better will be the hot summer days when the temps get well above 80 and the traction gets really nice...

We don't have snow here in FLORIDA just the occasional hurricane...I love punching my M3 on the on ramp when merging onto the highway...problem is, I reach the speed limit so quickly I have to calm myself down to avoid being jailed for excessive speed...short bursts of excitement...just enough to wet the appetite. Not sure if the PSS will last 10,000 miles...

After 3+ months I still love my freaking damn car. Haters will always hate especially my brother and his E92, but who cares. After I get all the mods done I will love my beast even more

I loooooove my car. I can honestly tell you that it takes awhile to finally feel at one with the car. I have 1400mi on my car and have realized that the car is so capable that you have to drive this car fast to really know what its about. slow speeds do this car no justice. Its a blast to thrash it around!!

I like it a lot and almost love it. It's a fantastic machine, the engine is pretty comparable with that of the Ferrari F40 ( Displacement, hp, TQ , redline etc ). Who with a license when the F40 was launched would have thought such an engine would be available in a car for less than $60k? The F40 was launched in 1987 and costed > $800k in today's $$$ and it quickly got a bad boy reputation for being viscous but also by many still thought of as the ultimate super car. The F8X is no F40 but the engine has similarities and it's a fire cracker and the chassi is just as good.
The S65 was thought of in similar terms to the exotic NA engines. No one could imagine such an engine available in a $60k car before it happened. If it just didn't feel so clinical I would adore it. I like it a bit better everyday though and I think I'll end up loving it |

5000 miles in a couple months so far, feels like a real comfortable shoe about now, but just don't have the heart of wanting to get out on a track, or on a off the beatin path road, and beat the shit out of this baby, 8g revs all gears, and smoking the tires just to say I did. Maybe I'm not alone on that.

20 500 kilometers from the first start, and every time I walk to him I'm smiling like an idiot.
I was eavesdropping on the kids talking with their friends the other day, and a six year old girl told my daughter I'm not a normal mom because meals with no salads don't get served in my house, because I don't allow added sugar to kiddos, and because I make them clean up their messes but I'm apparently still cooler than her mom since my car drives in such a funny way. I'm cool in the eyes of my kids friends! Even after making them eat salad! Thank you BMW!
