TT-RS, Viper ACR.
If you're that sensitive to turbo lag, on cars that have almost completely mitigated it, then you should go NA. S/C is better in that aspect, but just get an ACR and call it a day. It'll inspire you to go to church.

I have to keep from snapping my neck back, not sure how yours was laggy.

glad it's not an issue for you, we all experience things differently, but I am not the only one who feels the GM vehicles have laggy throttles...google vitesse throttle controller and you'll see what I mean

I wish I wasn't so picky about it, but I am a particular one

Yes I am familiar with it. I’ve seen the same on other cars. You could also tune to change the tip in.

It sounds like your next car is a Formula 1. Seriously though, if you’re having trouble finding a car that inspires you, maybe you need a motorcycle. Whenever I feel like my cars are not giving me that little extra I am looking for, I take a spin on my Ducati Divale and it just takes things to a whole other level. I return home happy and tired.

add the new infinitI Q60 coupe redsport to the NO list:

just drove it
very fast, nice compliant ride

BUT noticeable turbo lag and upshifts on the paddle shifters are very laggy (like 1-2 seconds).

my budget is like 100ish cdn max and I have only one car so that rules out those suggestions...I have no doubt they would inspire me though

Thoughts:
  • Tuned M car to address the lag issues you've noted
  • American muscle (Vette, Viper, Mustang, Camaro)
  • AMG GT
  • Audi R8 (V10 if possible)

You will never be happy.

Keep your current car and save your self some money. Get a jeep or somthing like that to drive regularly, it will make you appreciate the 981cs when you get in it.

Yeah, I'm leaning the same way. You've got a nit to pick with everything I would look at. Personally I'm getting a 2014 m5 and I'm happy with my e93 335i modified. If i was going to get one to inspire me It's be a cherry low mile e92 m3 with a supercharger but that's me.

Oh, so you aren't getting inspiration from cars you can afford.

After looking at the long list of cars you've tried, and knowing what you've owned, I don't think anything out there is going to check all of the boxes. I can also say you'll never find something that doesn't have some flaw that will bug you, or, which will be good but rather boring and uninspiring. I can say that because I been down the same road you're on. It's an expensive dead end road.

If you've got a 100K CDN budget, buy a daily car/truck that checks the practical box, is pretty cheap and not something to worry about (dings, accidents, rust, salt, etc.). Drive the "fun" car on weekends or once or twice a week (at most).

The boring and practical daily driver plus more exciting weekend car (whatever that may be) is an exercise in contrasts that will make the fun car so much more a special experience.

Compared to the DD, it's going to see like a rocket, have feel, and perform. And you won't drive it enough days back to back to start focusing on the "issues". The experience will be about fun, and, again, it's relative to the boring (or better yet crummy) DD.

Insurance and depreciation factors with the above aren't bad. Especially if the "fun" car is something like a Z4 which is relatively cheap.

nice to know of a kindred spirit
what you suggest makes a lot of sense for keeping the flame alive
thing is...i dont even commute...i only drive about 100 miles a week...cant justify 2 cars at that usage
part of me thinks that i will have to simply compromise in the end and just get a car that is just ok to me...
