Removing M Performance CF Splitters + Lip

Is it possible to remove the CF splitters and the front lip after installation? Will it leave holes on the car? What about if just removing the CF splitters?

Thinking about selling the car to a dealer and would like to monetize these parts if at all possible (without damaging/leaving holes on the bumper of the car). Thanks.

Yes, they can be removed. Splitters should be held on using 3M tape. The lip mounts up under bumper and any holes won't be visible unless car is up on lift.

It depends on who installed them and how they installed them.

If it was installed at the dealership before you purchased the car, the splitters were installed using Betalink which is like a superglue. That will make removing them a mess and you will probably damage the CF splitters and the paint on the car. There will also be holes in the bottom of the bumper from the screws that were used to help secure the CF splitters and the lip.

If it's OEM parts and installed correctly. You will definitely have holes in the splitters, possibly cracks in the CF and holes in the front bumper. If betalink was used, I would say leave it, save yourself the hassle and sell it as is. You'll likely cause a lot of damage to the paint and splitters

Yeah, I was wondering this myself lately as well.

How do guys remove these used parts without damaging the part or the car? You see these used items for sale all the time. I could justify (to my wife that is lol), going with new parts if I knew I could resell them later for a percentage.

As far as the splitters go. I would guess that people are using double sided tape and not drilling as the instructions call for.

I’m planning to change out my MP front splitters and lip for the CS lip and would also like to know if it’s a major PITA to remove it all..

I fitted it myself and it was a nightmare so can’t inagibe removing the whole assembly is going to be a 5 minute job either...

May just get the dealer to do it...

If you installed the CF splitters alone while adhering to the instructions, then there should only be one drilled hole on the underside. If you installed the lip with the splitter, there will be many more holes.

It's true that some people may have installed the splitters with just double sided tape. But if the lip was installed as well, I don't see how you could avoid drilling into the cf splitters and bumper. The lip support has to be mounted some how and double sided tape alone won't be able to hold the lip in place.

Good news is that removing the lip and splitter isn't as difficult as installing them. It took me 3 hours to install it and 15 minutes to uninstall it. The hardest part is removing the goddamn plastic rivets.

If betalink is involved in any of this, don't even think about uninstalling it.

Splitters don't even require a hole to be drilled. They use one of the holes for the little rubber flap underneath the front bumper.

I have had them on 2 M3s mounted the same way.

exo-shell did you drill out the rivets or use a dremel type tool?

I assume the support bracket that goes round the oil cooler etc you can just leave on under there....

Most of my rivets were worn down pretty good. Some of them were paper thin. I ended up just snipping almost all of them because they aren't reusable.
