No one else thinks it's a bit weird. All those comparos against RS5 which lost to the previous gen M3, but no F vs. E matching...

In other threads, the reports suggest the F8x is faster.

I mentioned the new m4 could probably be up there with a 911 Turbo and was criticized for that in another thread. And now looking at Karrussel's experience at the Nord he was beating a 997 turbo.

In contrast, The E9x does not come near a 997 turbo.

I expect the e9X to be slower in all tests. As I understood, BMW expects the new M3/M4 to be just shy of the outgoing M3 GTS.
Oh yes I'm sure the M4 is faster. I just think the E92 is already the (slightly) better track car than RS5, so I think it's a better comparison.

I didn't read that thread, but did he know the driver of the 997 turbo? Beating a faster car means nothing if both drivers aren't capable of using the cars to their potential. I've passed countless exotics including multiple MP4-12C's and 458 Italias at the track, but that doesn't mean the M3 is a faster car.

In fact given how strong the reaction was to turbo charging M vehicles I can imagine pitchforks and torches outside Bimmerpost HQ if M became xdrive only!

Ps where is an angry mob emoticon? :angrymob:

I think BMW M division surely will make it optional, but once sales of AWD greatly exceed manual, I am afraid BMW will make it DSG only like Audi has done with the RS5. I think M division discussed also that if power increases anymore they have to look at AWD. A 245 or 255 tire can only take so much power and torque before power becomes useless.

The statement was that the F8x pulled on it in a particular turn where power and torque were evident.

I have also tracked and you are right, the driver is the main factor. I lapped a Lamborghini and a mclaren in a cayman r. So go figure. But that day I drove a scuderia f430 and it was noticeably faster than the cayman although a lot harder to drive.

The F8X sounds to be very much faster than the e9x.

Love that first photo of that disgusting, wrinkly, dirty old man drifting the pretty M4.

I really don't know what to say but BMW decided to pick a engine that in my opinion sucks and resulted in some m class adjustment. In the paramount picture things could sound better and have a bit more sophistication from the general 3 series variant,
