Why Are There No Good Track Tires For 513m

I spec'd my car with the 513m 18s after learning that they are forged and lightweight since I track a lot. The only tire that comes in the correct sizes are the Michelin Pilot Super Sports which are awful on the track.

Some companies offer the rear size and not the front or vice versa. Toyo makes the R888 for the rear but not the front. I reached out them explaining that there is a market for that tire size since a lot of track guys spec the 18s but they said they arent planning on making the size needed.

I know I can always go one size down for the sidewall but a 35 sidewalls looks terrible on our cars.

What tires is everyone running on their 513m?

You can fit a 285/35/18 ET22, but max recommended tire width for the front 513M 18x9 wheel is 275 mm.

You can also move up to 275/35/18 in the front, and bump the rear tires to 285/35/18 for better tire options. However, people usually go for a square track setup, most commonly 275/35/18, 285/35/18, and a few on 275/40/18.

This means you'll be able to re-use your Klassen ID MS01 wheels by simply adding a pair of 10mm front wheel spacers, and a square tire fitment like 285/35/18.

I'm running a mix of tires with the stock sizes RE-71R front and NT01s at the rear

Ive run 265/35/18 and 285/35/18 Hankook RS3's and they are decent and similar in overall diameter to the OE sizes. The RS3 is out of production but the replacement RS4's have the same sizes. I have no experience with the new variant.

Yeah ive thougt about the set ups you reccomended but the overall diameter is too small. I really dont like square set ups on the M4. This car performs much better with a staggered set up on the track. I was planning on keeping the Klassens with a square set up until i realized how much these cars benefit from extra rubber in the rear. Thank you for your advice, i really appreciate it.

I would never run mixed tires at the track personally. Not as predictable.

I considered this set up before. I am just worried about it being to small in diameter. Do you have any photos?

I wish I could run cups, unfortunately I am not a fan of the square set up on the F82 personally

No problem. My instagram is circuithunter. My oldest posts are of my old Mineral Grey F80 with 18” Advan TCIII’s on the aforementioned RS3 tires. At the time the car was lowered on KW HAS.

OP: You do realize that overall diameter/circumference doesn't need to be spot on if you are tracking...right? You should be tracking with DCS OFF.

DSC will adjust to different tire diameters/circumferences over a period of time/mileage as well.

Hi RSXDC5, I am aware of this and I do indeed track full DSC off but this is more of an aesthetic choice for me. I was posting this in case someone found a tire that is similar to OEM sizing overall like the guy above helped with

I’m running 265/40 and 295/40 18” R-S4 now... first track day on them in a couple weeks..

Although I’m running 18x10/11” tires, not the stock 18s. But the tires fit!

Back when I considered using my 513m for track duty (Now relegated to a Snow Set), I found that the Yokahama AD08R come in 255/40 and 265/40. Both of which on paper seems to be just a tad larger than the 255/40 275/40 PSS. In Theory, it should work well. Ran then on my B7 RS4 track set and they performed decently.

Ended up going with an Apex 18" staggered set w/ 275-35/305-35 Nitto NT01.
