It is more than just a tax. The MPE on the M3/4 is a much more complex unit with "exotic" materials. It is understandable that is costs significantly more.

BMW GB are muppets, they have exhausts but none of the pipe trims!

Do the Carbon Fiber tips add any acoustic differences versus the titanium tips? Or are they purely aesthetic?

Thanks for sharing this info Kit. I was looking for it as well. I have the akrapovic slip on. I wanted the EVO but don't want to deal with the no cat issue. I was lucky to drive an M3 with the full evo and it sounds so nice.. I'm curious to hear just the slip on itself My M4 will arrive at port 12-08-14.

See my upload for the M Performance Exhaust, which is not a full system. You have to cut your factory exhaust and clamp this on behind the secondary cats, similar to the Akrapovic slip on.

I don't know about you, but I think some of these exhaust prices are way overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice system, but almost 6K for an exhaust? Is it worth it? I think doing the free valve mod makes it sound great stock and you can throw on black or CF tips for $500. You won't notice anything in regards to performance. I would rather spend 6K on wheels or (rear diffuser, CF trunk spoiler, front lip, and all the blacked out and CF add ons) or some nice new HRE wheels. You could even buy the new Pure turbo upgrade and have over 600BHP for that price..just my two cents.

To each his own on how he or she wants to spend $6k. I personally wouldn't use an extra 175hp which may or may not deteriorate my engine faster or put a bunch of CF pieces all over my car... I bought the MPE because I love the sound which I hear every single moment I drive and is also a BMW product which I know will be a perfect fit.

Bump for info: Is a secondary cat delete possible? Does a catless midpipe from another manufacturer pair with this system

Hi Nate or PARTS@STBMW

My dealer quoted me a price for the MPE and also an install charge, but also told me it was factory installed, which doesn't make sense. Is this done at the factory, the port or the dealer? They quoted me $3,875 + $675 for install. Does this all sound right to you guys?

I think it is port install on new cars; way high on install $, must have added the tips into that.

No, unfortunately that doesn't include the tips! My dealer kept stating it was factory installed, on the Monroney, etc., but has yet to respond to my now three questions about why there's an install charge. If it is in fact a dealer charge, then that feels way too high indeed.

What rattle issue on the exhaust do you have? whats the reason behind it?

Meanie, how were you able to order the exhaust so early? The reason I ask is because I need to replace my exhaust anyway (I have the rattle issue) and want to see if I can have the dealer order this one for me instead, possibly at a discounted price.

My M4 rattles after I drive it in SPORT for a bit, then it feels like something is loose within the exhaust and does my head in.

before anybody comes in here bitching, the search button is in between new posts and quick links this screen. type in whatever key words you think will help. There are fantastic other options as well like youtube that can offer you a good variety of videos posted by owners. i will say though, unless heard in person it is very difficult to capture the true sound of this exhaust. hope this helps!

Thanx. Yeah I think you're right, I watched numerous videos now and I'm not any closer in deciding which exhaust to go for I'm kinda stuck between M Performance, ACS, AWE and Akra. Also, is it worth getting the whole thing changed like downpipes, etc or silencer is enough?

I would try adding downpipes and a tune before an exhaust. IMO DP + open valves is plenty loud for me. If it wasn't my DD I would get an MPE just to have a screamer.

Does anyone have the BMW PDF file to install this exhaust system?

I been searching for 15 minutes on this site and have not found the bmw pdf. I'm surprised it has not been posted yet.
