OP, I think your new C63 is a fabulous pick. Nice that you are able to experience two top German cars. No losers in this pack of cars.

i don't understand the hate on the Merc. I think the C63 (coupe or sedan) look and sound absolutely fantastic. I sure as hell turn my head whenever I see one.

I can tell you if the C63s came in a manual transmission I might be browsing a different forum.

Guess I am going to have to get over it, most auto makers are dropping the three pedal idea.

I picked up a C63 as well.
Every aspect in my opinion blows the F8X M3/M4 away
Already pulled turbo's and had built by Pure Turbo. Tuned and doing some exhaust work. Congrats on your new purchase. You wont regret trading in your M

Engine is great, interior is fantastic, but man, just not digging the look of the sedan at all.

Up to now, BMW is still the best at flared/wide-body sedans - IMO.

I would agree with this generation -- saw the Alfa QV in person a couple of days ago and was sort of "meh" about it. Sort of taller and stumpier than I expected based on the photos.

However, going back a generation I have a real soft spot for the B7 Audi RS4 (sprint blue, please!), as well as the w204 C63, each of which I think is at least as good looking (and maybe better looking, in the case of the RS4) than the E90 M3. However, with this latest generation, Audi's styling just doesn't do it for me anymore. Also, the W205 C63's lack of a wider rear track doesn't help the already droopy rear end. I think that is one of the reasons the current C63 coupe looks so much better than the sedan to me.

I agree it does need more.
They need to release a black series.
Or aftermarket brand wise I really enjoy the Prior kits if they were to release one for this platform I would probably jump on it

I think the automatic transmission in the AMG shifts just like the DCT of the F8X platform.
I may be mistaken but I think I read in more then 1 article that BMW M division will be going back to a torque convertor transmission and away from the DCT

Yeah, I certainly wasn't trying to say the M DCT is different than the tranny in the C63. Although I'm certainly not an expert, from what I read they are similar in performance. I was referring to an actual 3rd pedal. Which is the main reason I have an M3 and did not consider the C63.

And yes, the new M5 will not have a DCT or manual but a good ol' fashioned torque converter/auto. Which, from the previews, shifts as fast as the DCT. So from my perspective, no difference.

Anyway, sorry, I was just having a little fun and pointing out that for some F8X owners, the option of a manual transmission was the most important reason for buying the car vs. its competitors.

Well, if the 6-MT is a god, it's found itself on the wrong side of the sacrificial table!

I'm a former W204 C63 (pre LCI) owner who just picked up an F80 last week. Prior to the C63 I was in a FBO Evo IX. The C63's M156 V8 is monstrous but the torque converter slushbox really dulled the fun factor. To me it has a more refined, albeit lazy, ride composition in comparison to the M3 which feels a bit more raw and nimble, almost like the Evo .. but more composed. I do miss the sound of the V8 though.

Both the M3 and the C63 are amazing in their own right! Both offer a totally different driving experience and having the opportunity to own either will definitely put a smile on anyone's face! Looking forward to the mods from a much larger community!

Cheers!

I had a w204 c63 for 3 years. it will overheat on a track, tranny was inconsistent, shifts were sometimes outright ignored by the computer. Nothing more confidence inspiring than a transmission completely doing it's own thing on a turn. But hey, at least you sound great going on the wrong gear. Bwat Bwat Bwat, Fart, Fart, Pop!

c63 has MCT (multi wet clutch) not a torque converter.

dct btw is much smoother than my tweaked zf on the x5m (10k miles on the x5m, 26k miles on the m3).
