Cool thing is, those pics aren't from a BMW parking lot, but a tech company that was testing having an electric fleet of reasonably priced electric cars versus ICE cars.

somehow they got their hands on a shit-ton of active-e bimmers ... there must've been at least 10 1-series there.

if you're super observant you can figure out which company ;-)

Scott26 thanks for sharing your insights as always. When can we expect a 300 mile range commuter EVs from BMW?

regarding the M concept, I hope it retains the track capable cooling system from f80. I really appreciated that f80 can be used for DEs in the desert and not have any heat related power reduction

Our source dismissed rumours that the M2 CSL will arrive at the same time as the M2 facelift, which is due to go on sale next year.
M2 facelift next year? The M2 facelift appeared this past July along with the 2 Series facelift.

There is an M2 "CS" (could still possibly be called "Competition" or something else) coming next year:

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1372982

which is perhaps the car that they are thinking of, but this is still sloppy journalism either way (which, furthermore, calls the legitimacy of this entire story into question).

Right now, it does not look like there will be an M2 CS, M2 GTS, and M2 CSL. I think the most likely scenario is a CS and GTS, just as we've seen with the M4.

You probably mean CP for Competition Package. "ZCP" is an options code for the CP used only in the USA, there is no ///M variant named "ZCP" (I know you know this ).

Actually, it should just be "Competition" (which is what I meant to write, but got hasty) but, it doesn't really matter what we call it - its the M2 coming next year with more power (and other stuff).

Yup

Looking forward to seeing that little beast

I wonder how long it will take them to put it on the market. The M4 CS will only be available in North America well over a year after it's official launch in April of this year

Have you considered that not everyone wants to drive a track-ready, roll cage equipped car every day? M-cars strike a balance that many people love. That balance is a car that is sporty to drive, but can still be used everyday. My brother-in-law has two kids, and regularly hauls them around in the back of his F80 M3. He takes that same car out on the Blue Ridge Parkway on weekends, where it is an absolute joy to drive. An M3 CS or M4 CSL doesn't make much sense to him... But I don't have any kids at all. I'd jump all over an M2 CSL.

There's no need to be cynical. We live in a great time, where many people have the means to afford such wonderful "toys". There's no point in resenting BMW for building more cars that cater to enthusiasts' desires.
You took my quote way too seriously and out of context my friend, but thanks for being condescending and talking on your soapbox. Now I remember why I stopped posting here. I don't even know where you got I think that all M's are to be track focused with stripped out interiors with roll cages from that quote. If your argument is a car that can be used everyday and is still sporty to drive, what's wrong with a normal BMW? Cause its not special enough? That's exactly what seems to be happening with the base M models, it feels like its not enough anymore, now you need to buy at least the Competition Pack to really get that M feel experience. The M2 is a great car, but now you have an M2CS coming just over a year after the M2 was released with the S55 engine, revised aero, suspension and whatever else they're throwing in it that's all supposed to be better than the "normal" M2. Why didn't the "normal" M2 just come out that way in the first place? Its an excuse to charge us more money for the car that could've been in the first place. I don't mind other editions as long as they don't make it look as though the base M car was inadequate and they come out with competition packs or CS's just to re mediate an issue like how the M4 competition pack feels like it is. So yea, call me cynical, but this is just how the M division makes me feel at the moment.

And yea, I feel every car should have hard rock suspension with a roll cage ready for track battle, I don't care if they are M3's or Toyota Sienna minivans. I'm just a cynical maniac *Steps off soapbox*

I wouldn't call you cyncial, just confused and possibly elitist.

That said, it's hard to understand what the fuck you're even talking about.

Nothing new here. The future M2 GTS that people have been talking about for months will be called M2 CSL. Same car...
