Look at the Uniden R1/R3. Tons of reviews on YouTube - check out the "Vortex Radar" channel.

Uniden R3. Mine is being delivered tonight. Check out this dude, he's ultra RD nerd. Has a great youtube channel. Reviews, settings etc.

@Vortex Radar is a member on this forum. Or check out rdforum.org. Plenty of information already posted over there.

Thanks for the recommendations gents! Yeah the R3 has basically become the go-to choice for a windshield mount radar detector.

There's some other good options to consider too like an Escort Max360 (adds arrows, autolockouts, and cloud alerts) or Radenso Pro M (MRCD detection and better BSM filtering than the R3), but overall the R3 is generally the way to go.

I just updated my RD recommendation page last night and it goes over these options.

But without laser jamming how helpful are they really? unless you live in the 90s where everyone uses radar

i have a uniden R3 and it has been pretty good. ive gotten a few laser notifications, but i honestly couldn't figure out where they were hiding, so its nice to know around what areas they are checking for speed.

I just installed a Uniden R3 not too long ago and it's been great. I sold my V1 for it since it wasn't filtering out enough false positives from modern cars' blind spot monitoring. Uniden R1/R3 has very good range too, and in reviews it tops V1 and Max 360 for a fraction of the price.

If you get a radar, you should blendmount it to your rear view mirror and tap it.

I want to know about this as well. In CA, most patrol cars have active radar but those doesn't pin point to which car is speeding. I always see the patrol car before they locked onto me. Because I am constantly scan the surrounding when ever I am speeding.

The only time I got clocked is by a stationary CHP hiding behind a hill. We saw each other exactly the same split second. By the time I step on the brake, his laser is already on my license plate.

So I am wondering how effective is radar detector prevent speeding ticket given the fact that most officer use laser nowdays?
