When can I expect to get my VIN?

So looking to apply for the Penfed loan and they require a VIN. Asked my CA and he said that VIN will only be available when the car goes into production. My pickup date in Munich is 08/28/15. When can I expect the car to go into production and get the VIN?

Your allocation should have a production week attached to it (see you CA if you don't know what it is) - usually 2-3 weeks before your ED date.

Your VIN gets assigned when you go to status 150 (production starts) which is usually a week before the car rolls down the line and 2 weeks before your production week. The production week is the calendar week that the car is scheduled to complete production.

You should expect it around the first week of August. I'm doing ED, and also using PenFed, so I'm in the same boat/waiting-game.

vonmayr above is correct. The VIN gets assigned at the beginning of production. They like to have the car ready at least two weeks before your ED pickup date, sometimes 3.

If it helps, my ED pickup date is 8/12 and my car went into production on 7/17 with estimated completion date of 7/30. The date my VIN was released to me was on 7/17.

I received my vin as soon as production started. Contacted my CA and he sent over a vehicle inquiry report.

Thanks guys. My build week is 33 so looks like early August for the VIN.
