Best tune for ZCP?
Hi, I want JB4 but I dont not know if it changed the exhaust crackles and the burbles on my BMW M4 ZCP.
I noticed that Dinan has stage 3 for the M4 ZCP. Other tuning companies also do not have any update for the competition pack. Depends on? And Dinan is three times more expensive that JB4. Thank you. www.instagram.com/bmwm4cabrio/ |

There are also multiple flash tunes out there which are the hot thing right now. This requires removing and opening your ecu. Gains from one of these on a ZCP car will net the same end results as a non ZCP car as it replaces either stock tune completely. On strait pump gas it seems hard for the zcp+jb4 combo to compete with the prominent stage 2 flash tunes. |

Jb4 or Dinan will not change the burbles ... You need a flash tune for that

For non-ZCP cars, you'll need a flash tune for those features as no piggyback can directly change DME tuning parameters. |

The lawnmower sound is something that can be eliminated via flashing. When flashing bootmod3 on my car, I was given the option to remove it. Your car idles at high RPM to heat up the catalytic converters for emissions reasons. Since I have no cats (I have catless downpipes), I had no reason for it. You may want to speak to someone more wise than me to see if it's a good idea to remove them despite having cats. This may not be ideal for extremely cold climates iirc. The JB4, while very useful for easy power gains, cannot remove the cold start. Remember, the JB4 is a piggy back. It's a damned powerful one, but it can't do things like that. In terms of your dealership - it all comes down to your relationship with your SA. bootmod3 and VF's Hex tune do not throw tamper codes, so there's no way to really tell you're tuned unless your DME is physically inspected. There's no guarantee in this last statement, but there's always an inherent risk. So in essence, yes - there are fingerprints, but very tiny ones. If you take your car to the dealer, you must flash back to stock and request they do NOT touch your software and what not.

If it's something serious like a spun crank hub, I'm sure they would look at the DME just to have a reason to deny coverage!
I live in Texas, so there is little in the way of "cold" climate, much less any kind of extreme. :P Still, I kind of wanted to minimize the amount of fiddling I did with this car beyond some coding. I am getting the JB4 not for power boosts, but to have a control module for the valves and active sound. Very useful information, thank you. |

I have a 2017 ZCP, and I was looking to get a JB4. So in conclusion is there anyone that tried the flash tune and/or JB4? Which gives better power gains on a stock setup? I wanna decide right now which route to take to unleash the real beast in that s55

agree, keep it stock, just add a valve controller call it a day. valve controller gets rid of the CEL for DPs and also can deactivate AS along with a bunch of other feature. Love mine

Downpipes are tempting, but will the car pass emissions? It was a huge pain in the ass to swap pipes every year on my last car, but I did have a full catless exhaust. |

I'm pretty sure modkrazy 's "lawnmower" sound that he's referring to is cold start. EVC won't handle that, unless I'm mistaken and there's an EVC that does a cold start override via CAN message.
