Car looks good but sounds like blah.
Like the E46 M3, aftermarket manufacturers have an uphill battle in the exhaust note department. Last edited by DOCTOR 3VIL; 08-18-2014 at 03:22 PM.. |

Probably catless with the intention of being loud enough to hear among the race cars rather than to develop a bit more power.

I'll be glad when we get some performance numbers on some of the exhaust coming out right now.

This is DEF catless without a doubt. You can hear the turbos spool very easily because there isn't any cats in its way. It literally sounds identical to my E92 335 with RB's I recently sold. And that car was a FBO +75% E85 car making 508whp 491ft-lb's of torque with back end flash and a JB4 G5 ISO. I think it sounds incredible and can't wait till mine gets here so I can start playing with it and all my neighbors are very cool so no problems in that department

Yes and no. No, it's illegal, but depending on what state you live in, regulations on whether you get tested vary (heck, some states, it varies by county and/or city)
Even in strict states, there are often smog test exemptions for the first couple of years of a new car. Bottom line: check your state regulations. |

I don't know anything about engines but am I really wrong for assuming that a 335i would be able to take on a similar note given the exhaust set ups were similar?

I personally hate what BMW is trying to do to make more money. They created all these so called M performance parts for non M-cars, which, I can sort of accept as some might not be able to afford a true M car but might want to make their car a little bit better performed and looks more aggressive.
But come on, its an M4, why do we still need to pay so much more to make our car to sound like that and modify its look to make it look like that? These parts should have come as stock... Car manufacturers need to stop that and leave these part to aftermarket manufacturers. Leave them a market gap to survive or grow! |

Everytime I see a thread about exhausts on the new M3/4 I check to see hoping it's gonna be better than what I've heard before but damn, this one sounds really bad.
