How to stiffen up my M3 without loosing my warranty?

Hi Folks,

I have an interesting question.. I have a "civic" 2016 M3.. and I love it.. I got extended warranty for it as well, so I have another 6 years

However, I have been spending a bit more time at the track, and I also enjoyed the stiffer ride of the comp-pack M3s...

So what are my options for stiffening up the car, while not loosing my warranty.. or the adaptive dampeners.

First off despite the common misconception you don't lose your warranty just for modding.

They have to have evidence that the failure was caused directly because of the modified part and/or parts. Also, this would only apply to that specific area of the warranty which in this case would be your suspension and suspension components. It would not effect your drivetrain warranty, engine, electronics, etc.

That said, first and foremost I would check the sub forums. We have one here for suspension/chassis modifications and if no luck there you could always try the engine/drivetrain subforum which in general has the most activity. I'm sure someone there can point you in the right direction.

I swapped out all my bushings for monoball bearings. Also added camber plates and coilovers. It definitely stiffened up the car. Be careful what you wish for though....

Also shouldn't the m perf spirngs be paired with stiffer anti-roll bars?

I guess i should really check the suspension forum

I guess if the admin can move this thread there that would be swell too

I have a new set of OEM springs off my 18 ZCP. They will not offer any lowering just stiffen up the car a bit. Let me know if interested? I will sell them.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do on my M3CP. Already have the Dinan Mono-Strut Ball Kit installed. The AFE Anti-Roll Bar Set (Front/Rear) are going in next. Just need to get them powder coating satin black (hate the orange color they come in) and then the M-Suspension and a proper alignment. Can't wait to drive it in this configuration.

Thinking about Dinan Rear Toe Links before the alignment, but somewhat hesitant because of possible increase in NVH.

install a zcp rear bar. i put one on my standard m3 and i really liked how it felt afterwards. I put the front zcp bar on as well but it made the car understeer pretty bad so i took it back off. It's a fairly cheap part as well.

I already have a ZCP M3 so it's factory equipped with the sway bars you mention. Was hoping to take things further with by installing the AFE Anti-Roll Bars. It should tighten up the last bit of body roll and sharpen steering up a bit too.

For comparison, the ZCP Anti-Roll Bars are Front 27mm / 25.3mm vs. the AFE Front 32mm / Rear 29mm

Question, did you install the rear bar yourself? How long/difficult was the install? Heard you have to drop the rear suspension to get to it.

Ah my bad I wasn't paying attention. I was meaning to write to OP and quoted the wrong person. I installed the rear bar myself at home but it was fairly involved. I had to lower the rear sub frame as low as it could go and snake it out. I had the rear of the car on jack stands and loosened the subframe bolts incrementally while lowering the floor jack supporting the diff. I never actually removed the bolts.

You're better off getting two pairs of the Fall Line toe links. It's much cheaper and the dinan toe link arms are adjustable but they don't include the eccentric lockout for the stock carrier while the Fall Line ones do.

Right on! No worries. Appreciate you taking the time to share you install process. Kinda thought that was the case for the install. Might just have the BMW service center do the install to avoid any headaches.

Thanks for the pro-tip! Was considering the Fall Line pieces, however I'm not too familiar with the eccentric lockout and it's purpose. Figured I'd pump the brakes and do some research before laying down the cheddar.

I need to limit myself to BMW hardware and BMW approved modification because I have another 6 years of full warranty and I don't want to loose that.

So far the M Perf springs seem like a really good Idea.... still thinking about the sway-bars...

any more details on swapping them would be useful Especially on the end result.

M performance spring kit, a zcp rear bar, and a set of re71's. You will not regret it.

Any experience out there with just the rear ZCP bar? Wouldn't the car be a bit dis-balanced if we are stiffening up the rear only?

I had just the rear bar installed in my car for over 2 years along with re71s and absolutely loved it with and without the coilovers. I would never blindly recommend something. Also, the gts and cs both use standard front bars and the zcp rear.

I went through 2 or 3 sets of them. They are fantastic. I haven't played with any of that but my new car has edc so one of these days I'm going to do the cs coding to try it out.
