New M3 or CP

OK the 2014/5 M3 I had with Michelin Tyre's on I found road noise was excessive and one of the reasons I sold it.
Have thinks changed tyre noise wise as I fancy another one.
M3 or CP will be nice, any feed back appreciated.
I am on Mcutters.

Mine is loud but it's not terrible, my Porsche 997.2 was way worse!!

I know you have a F10 and it will be a lot louder than that!!

If you're asking this question then you better not think about getting another M3. I personally don't think it is that loud but I drive with metallic rock on and have MPE so I wouldn't even know LOL

Haha, thought it would take you long to look start looking around again.

Mines loud with MPSS but you kind of get immune to it. We went out for a 40 mile round trip down the M4 today and although the road noise is there, you get used to it.

Having said that, as you are used to an uber quiet (in comparison) 5 series, any M3 with any tyre set up will sound no where near as quiet as a 5 series, they will always be loud.

I had a 530d for 9 weeks when mine was in for the diff recall last year, and when I picked mine up I honestly thought WTF is wrong with this car, it's so noisy!!

If you fancy a change, why not look at a 540i G30?

Good idea, I could have a look, none at the stealers yet as demo's, just 520/530D's.

I think Andy's reply is spot on, you just get use to it

I don't think I will go for another m car, the strange thing is that there are times I miss my E350 coupe. It was amazing on a run and just did everything well.

I am actually tempted by the new E class as it's really quite stunning ( interior etc)

If they do an E43 AMG coupe I might get a little too tempted

You soon forget about the road noise though and concentrate on the squeaking seats/armrest, clonking from the rear, hollow knocking sound coming from somewhere and high pitched whine as you set off.

Is the noise an issue for being on the phone, notably on the motorway?

I have to say the road noise in these cars is fcuking stupid. Particularly on our poxy Irish roads with a high stone content. I have a F80 ZCP.

Phone is ok on the motorway but to be honest it is so dependant on the road surface.

Having said that I drove a F12 recently and the road noise was even louder which was some small consolation.

Yes on certain sections it's noticeable (M25 concrete bits) and any tarmac that is old and open pored lets the rumble roar.

After some thought I am going to test the G30 540I XDrive as and when I can, the A11 (which I use a lot ) is concrete and very noisey in other cars but the F10 is quiet , so the G30 should be also and quite quick I hope.

Can you recall what it was like in your M6? In my M5 road noise was again quite bad I put it down to the bolting of the subframe directly to the body without bushes.

Most of the noise does seem to come from the rear, but I'm used to it these days.

M6 GC CP was good TBH, compared to the LCI M3 almost silent
