Well it will be slower, more uncomfortable, louder, more cramped, more unreliable and more issues with fit and finish. But I'm sure it would be a blast to drive and certainly more road presence, if you want that kind of attention.
But go for it, I would like to see Alfa succeed and sink more into their quality control department. |

Yes. But I have to admit they look great.

I hope your small enough to fit in one if you go down that path. The MDX will be your DD and 4C will be a toy.

Crazy...maybe. But it's your money and life. If it isn't a daily driver do what makes you happy!

You are not crazy. I would do it immediately if I were you.
The sound of M4's I6 bores me every time I drive the car. I had a MPE too. But mustang GT is louder, and that pisses me off. 4C is beautiful.

The 4C is...very different from an F8X. If you are okay with losing a bunch of creature comforts and want a more raw experience, then go for it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I was at the Alfa dealer today. They had sat on a yellow spider for a while and were offering $21k off the $79k sticker. The deal was too tempting to turn down. The BMW is the better car -- but the Alfa has pulled at my heart since it was a prototype.

Thought I would give a quick update. As indicated above, I switched for the 4C. I wouldn't go back. The M4 was better in many ways. It certainly was far more comfortable and refined. I really liked the M4. But, I'm in love with the 4C.
If anyone cares, I'm happy to try and do a more detailed comparison. |

I am always happy to read about folks who come to the realization that they are probably in a position where they can live with a sports car on a "day to day" basis, test the waters, and end up loving it.

I also think a review / comparison would be a good read. Maybe even one now and another 6-12 mos. later.

I looked at a 4C today. That is a modern day 308 GTS made in carbon fiber and a 4 banger. But wow, staying a while the car grew on me. I did not test it since I am trying to stay put with my 08 M3. Recently I test drove the M4 ZCP and it was awesome. And yet my 08 M3 manual still has all that soul and endless revs.
I am posting here as I am projecting which I would pick -- a 4C or an M4. And yes these are entirely different cars. The 4C is almost too much. The M4 is understated and probably can outperform the 4C in the real world on most fronts, including speed and practicality. |
