My San Marino Blue C63S Coupe

I picked up a grey C63S Coupe last month and I decided to get It Autoflex coated in a different colour. I debated between a few different colours and finally settled on San Marino Blue.

For those not familiar with Autoflex, it's professionally applied Plastidip. They start with a black base coat called a PDS, then they apply the colour coat and finish off with Clear coat.

The product is completely Peelable, it behaves exactly like paint, I can wash, wax, polish just like regular paint. Most applications use the standard Autoflex,l / prodip products for the job. My installer did something a little different, they took regular automotive paint from BASF, the same paint you would use when doing colour matching or dent repair. They mixed in some additives to make the paint and clear coat peelable. The quality of automotive paint is way better than Autoflex pearls in my opinion and gives the car more of an OEM look.

From a cost standpoint I paid $3,500 Canadian to spray the whole car in SMB and have it polished.

Some people asked why I didn't just get the Mercedes Brilliant Blue. I'll take a side by side picture comparison of the two colours when my friend picks up his Brilliant Blue C63, but personally I felt the colour is too conservative compared to SMB.

COngrats a part of me love that C63 more than my M4, both care are epic but ur car is much more special! people must see it in person...

BTW lovely color my fav colt is Diamond White or Magno Grey

I love the car man. It's not as responsive as the M3. The transmission is not as good. Infotainment and navigation coming from a 435 with iDrive is pretty crappy and sub standard. Speakers are cheap so the sound is not as good as the HK in my 435. But, the engine is sublime, the noise it makes with that exhaust is intoxicating, and the drama even when going for short trips to the grocery store and around town makes the car so much fun. At the same time it's very compliant and quiet when I put it in comfort zone.

Like everything in life it's a package deal, you take the good with the bad and overall I think it's a pretty good package.

It's been almost two weeks now. I noticed a few stone chips already. Not really chips but more like bumps where the stones hit, the product is somewhat gummy, if that makes sense, like soft plastic. You can't tell looking at it or touching it. I plan to winter drive it and will post an update in 6-8 months.

I'll be happy if it lasts 2-3 years and then I'll either take it off completely or switch to a different colour.

I don't think they have a formal and organized program like BMW. I asked my SA about Solarbram Yellow which they offer on the AMG GTS, I was told its $10K, yikes! I didn't even bother asking about a colour not part of their collection.

Both are amazing cars and we are blessed to be able and drive them as they are out of reach for most people.

But yeah it gets a lot of attention, even from non-car people, from moms when I drop my kids off to school in the morning, to kids and teenagers, to people driving besides me and giving thumps up.

The best part is I completely de-badged it except for the Mercedes emblem in the back and top of the hood. It's always fun watching people try to figure out what type of benz it is

OP: Looks gorgeous. My wife was looking at a C63S coupe for a new car and I loved it as well. Looks amazing in San Marino Blue. I think darker colours overall look gorgeous on MB's latest generation of coupe's.

the C63S looks good in this color. I'm almost certain you can ask Benz to do their version of this but it will cost you an arm and a leg I think.

Yes, I was wondering about this given the characteristics of Plastidip. Since you can't touch up with paint, are you able to touch up with Plastidip, or will you just have to live with the chips?
