Brembo vs Stoptech vs AP Racing
I been meaning to ask this for awhile now and since I haven't seen much info on or just general first hand experience. Does anyone have any info regarding the difference, performance wise, between the three? Brembo, Stoptech and AP Racing? I know Brembo since it is used by OEM for just about everyone, but I been interested with Stoptech as well. I have no clue about AP Racing.
I'm really unfamiliar with brakes in general so I want to have a better understanding with this. This would be more for street with the occasion of track (even though I highly doubt that would happen lol) Thanks!

I have Stoptech front and rear on my F355 and love them. Used them on the track and street.

Switched from standard steel brakes to Brembo GT f&r and the difference is night and day. It inspires confidence cause it really bites when you press down on it and the pedal feeling is much smoother. This is probably the most useful mod on my car other than tints!

I'm assuming it was roughly 8k or so for the full set?

Both break and suspension are certainly the personal preference, there is no standard answer for every person.
I like the linear response of Brembo, therefore I go for Brembo GT kit even though the diameter of front disk is the same with the OE one, but I can still feel the heat resistance is absolutely better.

I won't probably due it but it is just more of a research on my end than anything else. Of course if I can justify doing so then I would but... lol

No expert here but Brembo owns AP racing so you cant go wrong with either. The Brembo GT kit has a rotor that is larger but 34mm thick, AP has a bit smaller rotor but 36mm thick. A grand difference in price with AP the lesser of the two. I believe the caliper design is pretty similar however, I've also heard the AP caliper is easier to swap the pads out.
I'd personally go with AP |

Considering this as well after just getting coilovers on the car. Did you make the leap on a brake kit?

I use StopTech and love the way they stop both street and track. As a matter of fact I make a lot of time up by being able to late brake and they haven't let me down yet!

My thing is, I need first hand experience before any decision is made and since brake kits are generally expensive, I haven't had the time to really find and test. Especially since I'm currently in the process of going into another M, the timing isn't right. I just REALLY hate stock brakes and the stupid brake dusts but I can correct that with changing brake pads.

We've been uisng the RacingBrake direct OEM replacement rotors and calipers with great success on the track. Since they are OEM replacement compatible, you can start with just the rotors or calipers first. Allows you to work your way up. Excellent build quality and performance.

Sounds like this thread is a pretty much closed at this point but for what it's worth the StopTechs are phenomenal. Only concern I would note is a heavier amount of brake dust if you go with the sport pads (309s). Overall though the slotted sport rotors are great and the combination with the sport pads is impressive.
