Pics of my AW/SO F80 M3 Euro Delivery
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Alpine White Ext Sakhir Orange Int Black 19" Wheels Executive Package Premium Package CF Trim Adaptive Suspension 6-speed Manual Here are my thoughts on the car since I never test drove one before I purchased mine. I came from a supercharged E46 M3 (KW coilovers, StopTech BBK, VF Stage 2 SC), and this car is better in every way. I haven't completed the break-in mileage yet, so I haven't had a real chance to really test the car (I'll be at the Nurburgring in 3 more days), but here are my initial thoughts. As everyone else has noticed..... this motor has tons of torque. It gets off the line quick and is much more usable for driving around town. The exhaust sounds extremely good. I don't think I have ever owned a car in the past where I have kept the stock exhaust. This car might be my first. It can be almost silent when cruising around town, but can sound throaty and raspy when you need it to just by changing the driving mode. The adaptive suspension is a nice feature to have. I found with my KW V2 coilovers, I NEVER took the time to adjust the dampening. Being able to control them from inside the car makes it a very useful option. The brakes feel like they have the same (or even better) braking power as my StopTech BBK on my E46. They have great feel and bite. No regrets with not checking the CCB option. I'm sure the CCB's are even better, but for normal use, the standard brakes are great. The 6-speed manual is the best manual I have tried in a BMW, but still not great. BMW shifters have never felt right to me. The shifters in my E28 and an E30 I owned are/were VERY sloppy and rubbery feeling. My E46 still had the rubbery feeling, and the shifts throws were still very long. The rubbery feel is still there in the F80, but the throws are much shorter. It's an improvement, but it still doesn't feel as good as a shifter in a Honda, EVO, STi, or even my Audi S4. The rev-matching feature is a good thing. I rev match and heel-toe around town in my other cars, but it will never be as good as the M3. It matches the revs perfectly every time, and makes me look more pro than I really am After having the car for almost 2 days now, there are a couple things that stand out. First, this car gets A LOT of attention. It feels like you are driving around in a Ferrari, as bystanders on the street try to grab a look or snap a pic. The engine auto-shut off feature takes some getting used to (I don't know if I ever will though?). My first hand experience with this auto-shut off feature that saves gas when your car is idling was with the A3 I rented here for the 24hours before my ED pickup. That was the first time I have ever heard or even seen this feature in a car. In the A3, I thought it was kind of cool, but slightly annoying. Now that I see the same feature in my M3, I'm even more annoyed. I can't get used to the dead silence of the car when idling, and wondering if this constant start/stop adds any wear and tear on the car. I assume I can disable this somewhere in iDrive, but haven't taken the time to find the setting. Comfort access rocks (I think this is standard in Canadian cars). Full leather rocks (I changed this last minute). The seats are amazing. The HUD is a must have. The LED headlights are bright, but they don't have the nice sharp line cutoff I like with HIDs. The cutoff is soft, and the center of the light beam looks like a strange starburst. Overall this is a fantastic car and I enjoy every minute driving it. The wait to see the car back on Canadian soil when I'm done with it here is going to be excruciating The pics I have taken so far: |

Very nice! I'm so curious to see how it feels versus my prior MTs. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you for taking the time to post your first impressions. Our cars are almost identical with the acception my interior is black (also added full leather last minute) but otherwise everything down to the shifter 😉
Oh and I appears you didn't add the stereo. Any particular reason? |
