ACS Springs now fitted, before and after phots

Ok here's some before and after phots. Car was all done by Monday, picked up in the rain so was taking it easy driving back home. However managed to give it "a bit of a run" today and I can definitely tell a difference. The ride is not too firm, seems more stable than the OEM, there's a few iffy roads around here and the car seemed to stay level around the tightest bends without any bounce or noticable rear axle problems mid-way through a corner (suspension in sport whilst I was testing).

And I can confirm I have achieved speed bump clearance! (so far anyway, got the main gate rubber security strips to try tomorrow).

First 2 before, last 3 after:

Car looks great Danny.

Was it the ACS springs? If you don't mind, could you PM me the total cost of springs + fitting. I'm assuming you got John Clark's to fit?

I'm being very careful, I've now made it over the rubber security strips at the main gate of a customer site, couldn't stop to check on clearance as there was too much traffic in the way (and I don't think security would have appreciated it) but I rolled down the windows and didn't hear any scraping! I reckon it was close though!

Looks awesome, be interested to hear how you get on with speed humps/car parks after you have had them a while

I've got a front splitter waiting to go onto mine and I've held of as I reckon it'll last about a week before I forget and rip it off the car with a kerb or the like!

Daz,

No mate. My car isn't lowered yet.

I've been weighing up the options between H&R, ACS and MP HAS but I visit sites a lot and some of the roads aren't great, which is why I've held off fitting the front splitter so far.

I had the front splitter on mine and it's fine even on the biggest bumps. (With standard height)

Like you I am thinking suspension but cannot decide on ACS or MP HAS. At least with HAS you can fine tune the height

Looks great.

For your help, I've tackled some absolute monsters with front MP lip and ACS springs and never heard any rubbing. It's surprising what these cars will clear even though it visually appears very low.

I don't even worry about it now

I've just gone from ACS to MP HAS and prefer it. I also have the splitter and it has got fairly destroyed on speed bumps etc. I'm pretty careful too.

I have just replaced the front splitter in fact as the original was broken because of a bad install. If you have the plastic one it's not a huge expense or job to change it.

I will be selling the ACS if you decide to go down that road.

Could you tell me what you like about the MP over the ACS springs?

I had my ACS springs on my non comp car and loved them, I've never been quite as happy with them on my competition pack car, I've got a suspicion that the ACS springs are actually softer than stock comp springs which may be partly the issue..

Anyways, I'm also considering a swap to MP HAS..

I really liked the ACS and had them for about 10k miles. No issues and the car handled great. Under hard acceleration though it always moved hard left when it broke traction.

I got the corner weights checked and they were all over the place so that sowed the seed for getting an adjustable setup. The MP HAS got good reviews so went for them. I haven't got it corner weighted yet but setup as per bmw. Instantly you could feel a difference at the rear. Much much more planted and no more moving left. The increase in traction and stability is significant.

I'm expecting further improvement when I get it corner weighted.

Only negative is the increase in creaking / pinging from the front but I believe this could be down to the install.

Did the MP HAS make the ride any stiffer? One thing I don't want is to make the ride harder than it is but would love to drop it a little

Any stiffer than ACS or stock? Stock was a long time ago for me but I don't think either of these kits are harder than stock. If it is it's marginal.

versus ACS I wouldn't say stiffer but it initially felt more 'taut' if you know what I mean. I had the kit on for a week or two then got the software updated. Massive difference post update, much better damper control and it actually felt like it had more body roll and a little softer. I think the damper is using its full range of motion now.

If you go with either option you won't regret it.

Firmer and more connected a little harsher over really sharp pot holes, but after a few thousand miles the biggest issue is speed bumps I got caught out on Monday nipping through St Neots and smashed the underside of the front end whilst coming down off one of those table top ones, if I'd had a MP splitter on it would have been broken.

I think it was higher than the others on the road, it handled the rest fine, but it made me realise I'm closer to the ground than before!
