Akrapovic build quality is second to none. The welds are perfect, and they only use the best materials. I had an Akrapovic exhaust system on my motorcycle. That aside, for the M4 fitment, it sounds like a fart can from a 90s Honda Civic.
Don't kid yourself. If you did not see the M4 in the video, and you only listened to the sounds, you would agree. |

Akrapovic plays on a whole other level. Haters can throw out insults about marketing all day long, but I think their marketing is telling of something deeper. For me, a car is about experience. Akrapovic gets that. You can tell by the production value of their marketing, and the way they present their product.
Their product is incredibly well built. It's like Steve Jobs' anecdote about the skilled craftsman who sweats the details that no one will ever see. With Akrapovic, you're talking about a product that will spend its entire life next to the dirt. It will breath toxic fumes that will constantly try to corrode the material. Yet they pour attention to detail in to this product. I'm sure there are plenty of people rolling their eyes by this point, but I don't give a shit. I love products with this level of care and attention to detail put in to them. As a maker of things, I share those same values, so I'm a fan of Akrapovic, even if I can't afford their wares

Wait....... what?????
anyways.. on another note.. to the people that keep saying we need to realize it isnt aV8... V8's always sounded nasty till Ferarri and super car companies came out with low displacement V8's and bmw came out with the S65.. There are hundreds of beautifully sounding 6 cylinder engines.. the M4 just happens to be the ugliest sounding of all.. I dont think anyone is questioning Akra's fab quality....they are just dissapointed in the sound that this new engine makes..

I agree. The stock S55 sounds just fine. Only sounds horrible on internet forums.
All the people complaining don't own the car and most of them haven't driven it. Everyone I've come across that truly experiences the S55 with an aftermarket exhaust is very impressed. The valves give it great flexibility / multiple personalities. Akrapovic has made a great sounding system here that just happens to be a work of art. GabeS, it doesn't need to be a big block V8 to sound good - that's just YOUR opinion - which you are definitely welcome to. However, many people including myself are quite happy with smaller displacement motors. I find the note on the Akra S55 to be aggressive and unique. I totally dig it. Not sure how you could consider it the worst 6 cylinder ever.... doesn't make sense. Last edited by Wes Howell; 10-24-2014 at 07:16 PM.. |

I'm glad I'm in my mid thirties and can say I have less than perfect hearing at this point. Because I have over 5k miles of driving and listening to a vehicle producing what to me, has been an absolutely beautiful aural treat. I suppose like many things in life, it is what you make it.

Not suggesting you shouldn't voice your opinion or anything, but genuinely curious if you have heard it in person. I love the sound of my S65 as well, and am having a hard time getting to hear an F8x in person. My CA says that they still haven't had a single unsold M3/4 on the lot.

Nice video but the sound is very boring and doesn't get my blood pumping like their other exhaust videos. MPE does sound better in videos, akra is very disappointing.

The look of that rear-diffuser alone is worth the cost.

I love that sound but the video was a bit weird since none of the audio clips matched up with the driving footage at all. I can forgive this because the audio clips we heard were of very high quality.
Seems like my opinion is the opposite of most people who loved the video but hated the exhaust note. |

Sounded horrible when a salesman started one up and revved it for me. I actually looked around feeling embarrassed seeing if anyone around was looking at us.......... but ordered one anyways. will be adding a couple resonators/race mufflers in place of 2nd cats to get a better tone. or just get a Megan.
